I acquired a 500 rounds of 45 acp federal brass that I plan to reload I can find no data on which small primer to use in any manuals that I own. Do I use regular or mag primers thanks

Either will be fine. Tests have shown the mag primer gives a bit more consistent ignition. Just be careful if you are loading them near max loads with mag primers.

Depends on the powder you are using. Unfortunately, there is little published literature on it. But in general, magnum primers tend to provide a little more consistent ignition with larger granulated powders, and with 100% nitrocellulose powders.
Make sure that the primer pockets are for small primers, different companies make different primer pocket sizes.
