Yes. Remember it well. And the Gremlin!
I am ashamed to admit it, but in high school I really wanted one of these.
Always thought of it as a pregnant pinto...
If it was good enough for Wayne and Garth....
Bob
I am odd enough to like the looks of those cars. iconic, love those old rides a lot. Course my first was a 1951 Plymouth, then 64 Impala, then a 66 GTO, with tri power in high school. Was the berries and the girls liked it almost as much as me.Yea, shallow I was.
They remind me of a 4-wheel beer can.......and as structurally sound.😬
Any car good enough for God (George Burns) and John Denver, is good enough for me!
Car from the movie "Oh God"
I actually thought they were pretty cool back in the day. A lot of spacious width and lots of good viewing from the windows. Never owned one but did have a 75 Matador.
yes AKA rolling green house
a girlfriend way back when ( mid 1970's) her sister had a red Gremlin
neat little car for girl 😁 to run around in . at that time I had a 71 mach 1 mustang
yep, remember them
My wifes dad bought a brand new Gremlin.According to him it was a"Fine automobile".He was one of the guys that anything he bought was a fine automobile according to him.
Used to call Pacers "bathtubs". We owned a '76 Gremlin. It was what we could afford at the time. AMC took whatever their next bigger car was (can't recall its name - Hornet maybe?) and lopped 18 inches to 2 feet or so off the rear end and thus the Gremlin was born. So much for engineering. I have to admit, though, compared to Ford's Pinto or the Chevy Vega that Gremlin was a tank!
My buddy had one......He called it the Guppy
We checked out Gremlins from the GSA motor pool. They kept getting hung on the speed bumps in the garage.
I think it was on Pawn Stars that Wayne & Garth's car was found, bought & restored.
We campaigned a Grem at the local dirt track for a few years back in the 90s. Had Ford 351 power.
My dad had one for a while. It was converted to a 3 speed manual and the dang thing came out of gear while driving down the road if you didn't hold the gear shifter back. It was blue, almost the color of the one in Wayne's World.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
We had a rather large rambler dealership here in town . Tge head mechanic was a hot rodder. He campaigned a gremlin and a Matador on the drag strips . Did very well over the years ..
My friend Troy, had a vega Station wagon, with a different color hood, fenders and rear hatch. We called him the rainbow rider. He ended up jamming a 427 in it. That car flew. Eventually, it flew into a tree on the way to school.😪
My first car. Purchased non running in 1972 for $35.00
during the gas shortage of 73 the only small car I could find was a Gremlin X. It was a good car, much faster than a Pinto or Vega and had the best radio.
Ex-wife had a pacer. Her Persian cat liked to ride in the rear window where she could see the sights and be worshiped by the peons.
MY favorite Amc was the 69 rambler sc hurst in a paint scheme .
I remember these PACERS too.
I was about 12 yrs old in 1969 local dealer had one on the show room floor I tried hard to get dad to buy it as he was looking to buy a new car .
No way no how he was a true bleed blue Ford man as most all the family was
He bought a 69 torino a light blue with black stripes with a 351 the sticker price I remember( as I was just liking cars )was a couple dollars over 3k
But not to give up Let's get this one they a 428 version but again no way no how per dad
But it was the first car I ever got to drive
At a local drag strip not on the track in the parking field next to the track but still got to drive a car lol 12 yrs old was a big day for me
