Martha was warming up in our laundry room and headed behind the washer. The green ground wire is now on the floor. Not sure where it was hooked up on the wall or waterline behind..
So trying to do it right and not have to pay for a service call....Where does it need to be hooked up ?
Any help would be appreciated.....Thank you

Here you go.
Not a electrician so just my thoughts please don't just go on my advice
I am just a jack of all trades and master of none
i will start with Was it hooked up before
If you have metal piping for the water it may have been clamped to it as that was / is common source of a ground
All my water lines are pvc so no way to use as grounds might check yours
Most washers I have ever dealt with use the standard 3 prong plug with the ground part of it
It may have been a jumper wire from the base to the control panel I have seen that before
Google your washer model and install instructions would be a good start also
ther should be a diagram on the washer also locations vary
I know there is electricians on the forum
I am sure one will chime in For you
Usually attaches to the cold water pipe.
All I know is hot on the left, cold on thr right and poop runs downhill.
When I was younger a old plumber gave me a real good tip
Poop runs downhill and don't bite your fingernails
Usually they would run a external ground like that if, the cord doesn't have a ground or if the outlet isn't grounded.
The ground wire would be wrapped under/around one of the sheet metal screws on the back of the washer. Make sure it is touching the metal cabinet under the screw and not plastic.
The other end of the ground wire attaches to a metal cold water pipe with a metal saddle clamp. Try to use the same type metal for the clamp as that of the pipe. (copper/copper or galvanize/galvanize) to prevent electroless corrosion.
Sometimes the ground wire would be wrapped under the outlets cover plate screw. This is done when the cord is not grounded (only 2 prongs) but the outlet itself is grounded.
Good luck.
Post up a picture of what you got
Washer should be 110 or 3 wires, one black, (hot), one white , neutral, and one bare copper, ground I think is the correct word.
What do you have?
OK, you made me go look. Our washer is just a regular 110v three prong plug in a standard outlet. Are you sure this isn't from a 220v electric dryer?
220 will have black, white, and a bare wire just like 110 but 220 runs with both black and white hot for single phase. 220 will run without a ground.
Some appliances require 4 wires, red, black, white, and bare. Sort of a double ground for safety.
Different animal if you go to 3 or 4 phase.
Agree
We know your photograph skills are right up there as you impress us with your post
If you can post a photo or three would make it easier for us also
If you have wet feet and touch the washer and get a shock, you need to do something.
My advise comes with experience. Signed.......Eveready Kilowatt

Haven't seen a pic of Reddy Kilowatt in many years.
Sorry I turned into a pumpkin early last night......
Green wire is hooked up to the ground on the outlet......... And the end of the wire. I assumed the green wire was hooked up to the frame of the washer...
PICS....
Yep. Your picture is what I described above. Connect the loose end to the washers cabinet (metal).
When you unplug the cord, does it have 3 prongs?
I can see in the picture the outlet is a ground outlet, but do you know for sure it has a ground wire on it?
Thanks, that was what I thought but was questioning my memory..
Welcome.
good to go it looks like
some one must have wanted to be careful to add a extra ground (if the plug already has one of course ) I will guess under a screw on the sheet metal cabinet and just pulled free from the cat getting behind the washer , having the second will not hurt any thing if you hook it back up
its possible it was left over from a earlier install and never even mounted to your washer is a possibility
did you wrap the tape on it ?
Yes, I tapped it to the washer so would not have to dig it out from behind again...😑
All hooked up and running....my Bride is happy.
Got down on the floor and cleaned the dryer vent while I was at it. So I am happy too.
Yayy!!
