About big shotgun shells

If I can't kill something with a 2 3/4" load, then let it be. I remember a lady showing up at our range for a class with a Benelli pump shotgun and some 3 1/2" buckshot her ex-husband had given her for the class. I refused to let her shoot the giant red bullets until we were done with the class, having her start with 2 3/4" birdshot and then some 2 3/4" buckshot. Then I allowed her to chamber one round of the big stuff and fire. I stood in the booth to her right and caught the gun as it recoiled out of her hands. The little lady let out a stream of most foul language and left to find her ex.

Ask her if’n she’d like to try a 4 bore or an 8 bore or maybe the 14 ga. would be more to her liking ?? 😛😉
3in 12ga #4s are PERFECT for turkey hunting. Yes, 2 3/4 can and has killed turkeys, but 3in gives you more range! That said, I have found no need for 3.5in mags(maybe goose hunting?, Dunno never hunted those).
That sounds like a trick I might pull on my ex wife.
Jim, put a scope on it & tell her to get real close.
Marshall, owner of Jones Fort, Redding, Ca. showed me a video of him shooting his muzzle loader 2 (TWO) bore! It turned him around 90 degrees and set him back several feet. Can you imagine an eight ounce ball?? Thatsa half a pound! I don't remember the powder charge. He said he wanted an elephant gun like Frederick Selous. BTW he sells on G.B. and his store is well stocked and the taxidermy mounts are amazing.
I hunted geese with 3-1/2 BB shot. I would kill birds that the rest of the hunting party couldn't touch.
