Of course, I'm prejudiced.

Have MANY black labs buried along our fence line. But I believe you are right, Goldens are probably the "best".
Love the labs, but GS the best by me.
Raised and trained labs for 35 years or so, not all were the best, but you may be right this time due to the fact I would not disagree.
I agree. the best.
My big girl Ruth. Pretty good guard dog.
Good boy!
YUP!!!! I totally agree! 😍
I showed this article to my two Border Collies and they both said "We wouldn't have let the little girls leave the yard in the first place!! We would have kept them entertained throwing tennis balls and sticks!!" ^^^^^^^^ they also looked at the above pic and went yuchh, cats are disgusting!! They both dislike cats! Cats and squirrels! Squirrels even more than cats. The squirrels like to get safely high in a tree then give my girls "the tail"!!
My border collie Franny adopted a stray cat. She would conspire with Zoey the cat to keep the kids petting and playing with them till they were too tired to wander off.
I had one that I loved very much, but my labs are my favorite.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
...I had a Golden that must have been dropped on his head right after birth...smart, but the most hard headed dog I have ever had...my Border Collie I had for many years was super smart, I miss her...I have a male and a female Dobie now, smart, loyal and loving, a LOT of myth surrounding Dobies ...wouldn't take for either one...
This is Daisy Maisy. She was a sweetheart. Been gone about three years now.
The most laidback dog I ever had was a Bullmastiff best dog I ever had around kids he absolutely loved being around kids.
As far as a guard dog the only threat he was to a robber is if they tripped over him going out the door
Savage, I bred, raised & showed Bullmastiffs for 20+ years. I had one and later two at all times. Yes, my boys were about 5 +7 when I got my first and agree they loved kids and the feeling was mutual.
They didn't care much for strange dogs but I always had a fenced yard for them. They were leery of strangers until I introduced them. That was a little awkward when I would bring a new girlfriend in the front door. All it took was a proper introduction! A couple of girls that weren't comfortable around dogs I just let them toss a couple of Milk Bone dog biscuits to them and everything was fine.
As for robbers, I had one case where a couple of guys came out to possibly buy my car. They took it for a ride and I left the front door open so I could see when they returned but the aluminum screen door was closed. Brandy was napping (her favorite pass time) by the piano about 8 feet from the door. I didn't see them drive up and the 2 jerks started to open the front door. Brandy jumped up took one leap at hit the screen door. It didn't open but she damaged it where I had to buy a new one. The guys hopped in there car and I never heard from them again. I always thought that they came in to rob me.
Goldens are wonderful dogs, one of the two best breeds. Labs have been the most popular breed for 31 years straight according to the AKC.
