Can Anyone I.D. This rear Rifle Sight Assembly?

I have this rear sight assembly that appears to be from a Mauser of some type, but I can't find the model. The site base is a slide-on like the mausers, but it wasn't soldered on, but had 2 screws that held it in place by the end of the screws being inserted into holes in the barrel. I don't have any idea what the 2 swing-out arms were designed for.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas!

Must be the Arisaka Type 99 rifle. The swing-out arms are for leading and shooting aircraft. Proved to be not practible. Caliber 7.7 mm Jap.
As above early version with the wings. Later midwar didn’t have wings - so cool item,
