Just in the nick of time

I have had a 30K natural gas ceiling fan blown heater for almost a year. It is was for my work shop. Having a fused neck (being a *) I can't look up and lost my "man" strength too boot. There was no way to look up and get it mounted to the ceiling, I simply can't see what needs seen to do it.

This week my wonderful, strong, and tall neighbor, John (age 40) came and helped me get the unbelievably stiff 1" plastic gas line tapped and welded to the "T" fitting from the main line to the new low pressure regulator. Fighting that pipe will make you sweat in a freezer. We got every weld done, none leak, the connections are sound. The Furnace is now running, after a few missteps with power and bleeding the gas line in my work shed.

50 degrees in there is fine, I have stuff that I do not want to freeze, tonight the temps are set to plunge down near zero.

Thank God above for a helpful young man and stubborn perseverance in getting this darn heater running off of my free gas. Maybe tomorrow will be a good day to go out there and cast bullets in a flannel shirt!

My chickens are not so happy today. They laid several eggs but are hunkered down in the coop. They have a heated water bowl and plenty of food so I suppose they will be just fine for the next day or so.

I checked on the work shop and it is great, the furnace is running a lot but it is keeping the building at 55 degrees so all is well. The temp never got above 8 here today and the wind is blowing like the dickens. The gusts make the entire house groan a bit. Thankfully we still have power and I don't see any issues cropping up with it unless we get trees going down.

Speaking of trees, my poor son had his car smashed to junk by a falling pine tree in Farmington CT. He is super bummed out because he really needs a car for his job. Monday he gets a rental from the insurance company and we are already looking for a new car for him, his wife and the two grand kids.
