We're on the east side of the Appalachian Mtns. from Ken & Jim. We were woken up at 6am with high winds, but it was still at 41*. Power has been blipping all morning, but it's still at 31*. I've got the wood stove ready to light. First I have to go swap out a water heater at a rental.
0 degrees here right now.. Kentucky..I hate winter...
45 headed for 5 later here in CT power went out at 6AM got it back at 12:15
Don't rely on woodstoves as only heat. If you have a furnace run it awhile to. It will circulate warm air evenly, and through basements/ crawl spaces to keep water lines from freezing. Best to you.
Joe, Our air return for the main floor is above the room with the wood stove. I put a louver in so I could draw in & circulate the warm air. I also put in a Rube Goldberg 6" vent tube from the top of the stove, 24' through the trusses to the center of the lower level. It has an inline fan that moves the heat to the base of the stairs..
Rube Goldberg?
