Grandson #2 scored a 6 point bull last night.
This is the herd that I posted about in another thread, guess the ID F&G aren’t feeding enough to hold them from crossing the 4 lane.
airbags did not deploy, elk did not survive, but the rack was undamaged, pic will follow after it gets light.

how about the grandson? no major injuries I hope.
OUCH !
Yikes, I hope your Grandson in ok.
No injuries, but it about scared a turtle out of him LOL.
His first accident, so he was pretty wound up.

David, glad he’s okay.
Looks like 2 3/8” heavy wall upset might have fared better on that ‘cow catcher’ ,,,,, 😉
I told him that if he was going elk hunt like this, that mounting a bale spear on the front might be prudent.
He’s a pretty serious kid and did not see my humor.

It's always a shame to see something like that. The elk haven't moved in here yet, but with it being as cold as it was, and all of the snow on the ground, the deer have been getting whacked quite frequently.
Glad the boy's okay. I always hate seein' an animal get hit like that, just seems like such a waste.
gonna be an expensive reload........
Oh Pshaw!
Guess in his excitement he reported to us that was a 6 pt, when in reality it was just a rag horn.
guess ground shrink even occurs when you run over one LOL.
Glad your grandson is OK.
Were you able to salvage any meat Dave?
No, he took a full body shot, broke all the ribs on both sides.
I think he ended up running completely over it after initial impact.
We are just glad that it didn’t instead come through the windshield.
NEVER pass on the backstaps nor the tenderloins😫
That your grandson is OK is the ONLY thing that matters!!!!!!!
A tall animal like that didnt get a solid hit on the bumper. Thats why the airbag(s) didnt deploy. The hood latch and hood did their safety job though. Those add on "brush guards" can defeat factory safety features in some cases but it looks like it did ok in this case.
