Picked this one the other day. I have been picking them as I find them and when the price is right. Does anybody else out in GB land collect this kind of stuff?

Once upon a time I did. Too much stuff laying around already.
Over the last 8 or 10 years Every time I would run across one The seller thought it was full of silver or gold for the price they were asking
and many many yrs ago when 10 or 20 dollats. woud buy one i had no interest or a place to store them .
I do like them just not enought to seek them out
This is the type of thing I like to look at. I appreciate the history these boxes represent. But once I have looked at a box such as this over I have no interest in bringing it home.
We wont even get into the issue of my wife wigging out over me bringing an old wooden box home to put in HER house!!😁
I have snagged a couple over the years when the price is right, but my "price is right" and most sellers "price is right" is usually a wide spread.
That's a nice one!!
Let your wife decorate them for the seasons & she might not mind having them around.
I think I have 4 or 5 old crates like that, and the one that comes to mind first is an old Hercules blasting cap crate. I think I have a Dupont crate of similar age, too. Seems like I gave around $10 for the Hercules crate, but it has been around ten years since I picked it up. A couple years ago the local Murdoch's store was selling old 75mm recoilless rifle crates, so I cherry-picked a couple nice examples. I'm a sucker for stuff like that.
I really like them and probably would collect them if I could find any available around here.
I have a wooden military ammo crate with rope handles from some commie country.
Got a wood crate for dynamite and a better one that's for howitzer ammo on the shelf in the shop. Useless.
I have one for 30-40 Krag that my Grandfather kept from the Spanish American War. I can remember my Dad shooting up all the .38 long Colt ammo that was in 20 round boxes. It is filled with letters from 1896-1907. I never met the man, but I have one great picture of him with his company.
I have an old wooden "Bowman" milk crate! Does that count🙃
Space to display them is the issue for me
I store all of my bullet molds and handles in a more recent "repo??" Remington ammo box. It is kind of "pretty" and has a nice latch on the lid.
I used to get several crates of Russian Mossian Nagant rifles in at a time. Twenty rifles plus accessories to a large green wood crate. The rifles would sell well and then I would have folks waiting to buy the crates. Some would make cool coffee tables with them.
That table turned out real nice.
