Try this recipe out. Kind of a cross between a stew and a soup. I followed the directions with 3 pounds of elk, but any type of steak/stew meat would work. I also substituted the second cup of water with broth, added a teaspoon of Winchester (Worcestershire) sauce, a can of peas, and half can of sweet corn. Really different, but really good.

Thanks for the recipe @toad67. I make a similar dish (like you = corn, peas, Worcestershire, extra broth). I toss in whatever meats I have, but always try for at least two...preferably three...and shred them late in the cooking process. Family favorite is venison, rabbit, and pheasant, but I prefer when there's duck/goose also. I use more liquid, add the taters fairly late, toast up a nice sourdough loaf, and always make a double recipe...it's even better reheated.

Yesterday I was wanting to do something different with a couple pounds of lean hamburger. Followed @toad67 recipe having most of those ingredients and boy o boy did that stew turn out GOOOOOOOD!!

P.S. Using burger you just need to brown and drain off the grease before adding to the stew pot.

@toad67 Yes, I did not have any green pepper but had a celery bunch that was starting to go soft so chopped it up and in it went. Also used a can of tomato soup instead of the diced tomatos. Put a few dashes of Worchestershire sauce for added color and flavor too. After everything was done and tender I thickened it a bit with some flour as it was still boiling, so I'd call what I made a stew. Darn good stuff!
