This gentleman was bayoneted with the pictured bayonet. His infantry buddy shot the enemy and later ask him if he wanted the bayonet or the rifle ,,,,,,,, he chose the bayonet and later purchased the rifle. He was in Europe during WWII.

Last of the real tough guys.
I've known a few. Many were small of stature but giants among men.
My hat is off to you
What a man
Cool story but that looks like an IJA Arasakia to me, that would mean he was in the Pacific theater.
Yeah, that's a Jap outfit. And he still knows how to shine his shoes!
Thank you sir for your service
And being one of the great ones goes with out saying
Great story I hope his family apriciates the history of the gun and bayonet long long after he has left us
Sam ,,,,, don’t know, the speaker mentioned Europe and he bought the rifle after the fact.
Audie Murphy was the tallest 5'5" to walk the face of this planet.
Years ago I got stuck in the arm with a 4 1/2"-5" stiletto. Could not imagine what it must be like to be run through with a bayonet like that.
No matter where it happened he was a real true hero among his crew.
Salute!
