I have the magazine tube loose, but can"t get the barrel assembly to move. My first idea is a vise & a pipe wrench, but looking for a better idea to try.

15" crescent wrench, no teeth marks😘.............make sure you have the magazine tube and action handle ALL the way forward, then some kroil & slight heat
turn the right way
Are you sure you have the forearm all the way forward? The bolt must be all the way forward and action locked closed before the barrel assembly will turn. I would hesitate applying to much force. Perhaps a little oil and a few taps with a rubber mallet to loosen it up a bit. Bob
A plastic mallet has always worked for me. Might pay to protect the surfaces with a cloth or something. You can hit it pretty hard without damaging anything, if your aim is good.
I had one a few years back and could not remove the barrel .Use a heat light aimed at the action for about 20 minutes. It will get warm and it should twist out . Hope this helps.
You can check if it's far enough forward by looking between the barrel/magazine and the action too see if the action bars are still in the way.
Yupp, That is what I was alluding to about making sure the forearm was all the way forward. Twisting on the barrel assembly with a wrench without making sure the action bars are clear is a short road to disaster. Thanks for pointing it out a bit more succinctly than I did.
I hope Coot lets us know how he did and if he was successful. Bob
No worries Bob, sometimes the simplest of words escape us all. Amazing how many times you see the same disaster, but on the assembly side of the receiver huh...
FWIW Coot, this section closes the thread after 10 responses, so if it's closed, and you decide to give an update, just start another thread with a "part two", or "update" on it. Good luck.
