Cooking Shows
Retirement hobbies go from the gunshop to the kitchen for me. I have always enjoyed a good meal and learned to cook many things from my mom way back over 50 years ago.
Anyway, I was just remembering the very first cooking show I used to watch. The Galloping Gormet starring an Englishman named Grahm Kerr. The way he always used "Clarified butter" and with his strange accent I thought some gal named Clara was a sponsor for his show! My wife was brought up watching Julia Childs. Back when Dan Akroyd did that skit on SNL years ago about how to debone a chicken, I remember my wife went into a laughing jag that wouldn't quit!
I probably watch most cooking shows more for entertainment than using their recipes which usually contain many ingredience that I have never even heard of. Anyone remember watching the original "Iron Chef" from Japan? That show reminded me of a combo Bruce Lee meets Godzilla feature! The voice overs in English were hilarious too!

Julia Childs used a lot of sherry in her recipes

I am currently reading Anthony Bourdain's book "Kitchen Confidential", and it is a very good read. He was a good writer. Too bad he decided to end his life.
I liked Chef Boyardee!
My favorite is America's Test Kitchen* followed by Steven Raichlen the BBQ guy.
*The original version hosted by Christopher Kimball, who was forced out.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Oh ya! Some of those old SNL skits were funny enough to remember all these years later! Dan Akroyd also did the one called the "Bass-O-Matic", where he drops a bass in a blender set to puree. Served it all up in tall glasses and gave to other SNL members who all commented; "Great bass" 😂
Here is a video of the Japanese version of Iron Chef. I really get a charge out of watching! 😁

I like to listen to Justin Wilson!
If you get a chance, check out Nigella. She has a way of capturing your attention. And imagination.
Another vote for Justin Wilson
I have to agree with KenK/84Bravo, I like to cook and eat well. In 1975 I had just got a divorce from my wife (no kids involved) she was an excellent cook, fantastic would be a better word. I still remember sitting on the couch in the house a buddy of mine rented eating a McDonald’s burger thinking to my self, I can finish the rest of my life eating like this, or learn to cook. Over the years I have come so accustomed to my cooking that I have spoiled my self, and my wife. Secret to good cooking, don’t be afraid to experiment and remember there are more spices than salt and pepper.
