Kinda a Southern thing, but try a hot dog with a big mess of Cole Slaw on it. They absolutely ROCK.
I am about to have 4 OM Smokies, (excellent if you've not tried them.) Cooked in butter in a cast iron skillet, on some super fresh hot dog buns, with some fine diced onion, a little stone ground mustard and a bunch of fresh made cole slaw.
Mmmnnn..........................Mmmnnn.......................................
*Sweet Pickled Jalapeno's are also an Excellent side on the dog.
Carry On.

Well, this Yankee must be guilty of that cultural appropriation stuff them woke libbies go on and on about, because I make em' up similar sometimes. Good crunchy coleslaw, but I leave off the mustard and add mild sliced pickled banana pepper rings. Glad you posted about them because I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow and was wondering what I was going to get. You helped me get one meal covered anyway! Bob
Add chopped onions and you have a rea hot dog, no yellow stuff though.
Being of German decent, cabbage is one of God's gift to mankind.
No slaw, but havyou ever had a Sonora dog?
"consists of a hot dog that is wrapped in bacon and grilled, served on a bolillo-style hot dog bun, and topped with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of additional condiments, often including mayonnaise, mustard, and jalapeño salsa."
Wife's cousin from Tuscon introduced us to these.
I don't see why you couldn't add slaw.
I said "fine diced onions," @Butchdog2. 🙄
I go very light on the mustard.
Sounds very good @jimdeere. 👍
How about an Italian hot dog. That's 2 deep fried dogs in a 1/2 round pizza dough pocket. Add fried onions, peppers & potatoes. And don't forget the ground mustard.
I was first introduced to a slaw dog years ago at a fast food place down in Sumter SC called Weiner King. Don't know if that franchise is still around but that hot dog experience started me to make my own these past 48 years or so!
YES! I like them!
And poor people. I make the best fried red cabbage!
Speaking of poor people, living on hot dogs and bologna used to be considered poor mans food. I find myself today paying nearly 6 dollars a pound for the stuff and can get ham much cheaper! Probably not much longer though!
Slaw dogs, kraut dogs, chili dogs, dogs with relish, oh my the list is long!!!!! With a good dog and the right, very fresh bun, you got eats better than almost any high end restaurant!!!!😁
Grilled dogs almost black, grilled buns, yellow mustard, onions and dill relish with a cold beer is what was dinner last night.
The 7-11 was my first stop o the midnight shift. I'd tell the clerk to leave a few on the roller grill & I'd be back when they got gnarly. Brown mustard, hot onion sauce & jalapenos.
This looks familiar;

Feel free to "Close" it, @montanajoe.
Well no body talks about guns here, we should at least cover some all American topic like Hot Dogs!
I'm not emotionally invested in this thread/topic, so if you feel we are beating a dead horse - by all means close/delete it.
(Seems like a decent enough # of reads, so maybe someone was interested.)
