I'm looking at some 50BMG linked ammo, which is quite a bit cheaper than boxed ammo. Is it a pain/time consuming to delink? TIA for input.

Not if you've got a Ma Deuce!
Its not hard to de-link but remember its MG ammo not match ammo and while accurate its not going to be match accurate. If you don't need the links you may be able to sell them and make up some of the cost.
Biggest pain I've found in linking, or de-linking is the sore fingers afterwards. Break it into small sections so it's easier to handle, and then use a 2x4 on end, or the corner of a wooden bench to de-link.
I bought a NOS WW2 delinker here on GB when I bought the MA Deuce. A lot of the linked ammo had a tracer every 10 rounds, and sold for cheap.
About a 15 second process to pull the tracer and replace with M33 ball.

However you do it, just make sure you don't create bullet set back.
Thanks guys.
Or bullet set off!!! 🤯
