Just read about his today but it happened in 1998. Any resolve in the controversy?

Despicable. But- I don't see where the author says he examined the deer in person. The other examples of fraudulent bucks have no bearing on the matter.

I remember this being quite controversial here in Michigan for several years. Every deer hunter had an opinion, including me, and without the complete facts, that's is all they were - just opinions. I don't believe that even now, all these years later, there has ever been a full forensic inspection of that rack. I worked with a guy who also raised white tails and he had a unique theory. He said he could probably recreate that rack with a deer with the proper genes through diet and some sort of medical manipulation of the horns during their growth to achieve that extreme spread. He wouldn't explain further, but said there was no way that spread was normal. I wanted it to be real and still do but I guess I will never know for sure. Bob

flash back , did we not have a member that found a new use for wood screws some time back and got busted on a buck rack he had claimed.

I guess any thing is possible growth hormones special feed sad but a fact of life

many years ago I worked with a few "body builders " who told me they had been injected wit so much stuff including gorilla hormone? so doctoring up a deer I would say is plausible.

I hunted Blacktail deer in Oregon for over 40 years. There was a guy by the name of Boyd Iverson who wrote a book, titled "Hunting Trophy Blacktails", which had many tips, as well as pictures of many trophy bucks that he had shot. Well, 20 years or so after that book came out, and a nasty divorce, his ex-wife spilled the beans about him poaching most of the trophy's out of season, or illegally with a spot light or other shady means.

I believe the largest piece proof is when Rompola didn't allow the scorer to x ray it.

Wow, quite the deal! Seems like any kind of competition has a certain number of fakes/phonies.

I think it was the same member who made the world class 22's, He lived only about 30 miles away but I never heard of the scam with the horns in the local paper, or rumor mill or of his world class 22 builds at any of the local gun shows......

So many ethical hunters are out there that the worst kind is a faker. Its like putting weights in a bass. its fraud

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.
