I have a remington 740 in 30-06 with a mag thats marked 270 win . My questions is will 30-06 shells work in it?
Comments
The older steel bottom mags were dedicated to one caliber but 30.06 should work, later they, Remington labeled long action calibers on the magazine, I.E. 30-06, 270, 280 and short action calibers were put on same magazines . In essence yes. If you have it try it.
I would expect it to work just fine. I had a 742? (the pump action one) in 270 Win, for a short period of time. One of the magazines was marked 30-06.
As far as my experience goes, there is no difference in the magazines for .270/.280/.30-06.
Take care of that mag. They are expensive to replace.
