These guys were born in the neighborhood last year and never left. They come every day and I feed them corn, they will let me get to within 6 feet of them before they start getting "nervous".

We have Canadians in the back yard. We call them Homers 'cause the never fly south or north.

Now you gotta watch your step when walking in the back yard.

For a year they came as a parade, big hen followed by 13 chicks followed by another big hen. It was funny to watch the first hen leading the way and the trailing hen keeping order and prodding the stragglers. This group is only "the kids". my guess is that the two hens are probably nesting or preparing to nest now ...................... the parade will be longer this year I think. 😉

They are really good to have around as they also eat insects and such in the yard, kind of like having Guineafowl in the yard.

Speaking of Canadians, something that most people don't know is that in the winter, the infield at Daytona International speedway has dozens of them that winter there as lake Lloyd is in the center of the speedway.

Oddly enough, I have never seen a Tom with them.

Train one or two to go inside a plexiglass box(with lots of vent holes, of course).

Then they could be your new hunting partner! That would be hard to beat for a decoy!

Those will be back in my yard, once we can see the ground again.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

For the record, birds including turkeys hatch, they are not born.

And the geese are not Canadian geese they are Canada geese. They are naturalized citizens now that we have golf courses to graze.

Geese, who's talking about Geese, I was talking about snow birds. 😁

The specific term that relates to the ‘birth’ of coming out of an egg is hatching, but that does specifically describe the moment when the eggshell cracks and the young emerges from within the egg, rather than more generically the time when you start to count the animal’s age (even though it’s the same moment, of course).

To be born means “to be brought forth as offspring, to come into the world”. It can be used for creatures hatched from egg.

Too many turkeys! I just hit one with my truck. Busted out my grill.

Lately, we have 20 regulars that come around each day & roost high up in the neighbor's trees.

Turkeys are funny to watch, and delicious to eat.

We have less and less turkeys here EVERY year🫣😢

Not sure the cause, but cheap chicken fertilizer MAY be the culprit. They started uaing it here right when the population started declining!

I know, coyotes, and loss of habitat hurts them too!

Used to be able to take multiple family members on successful hunts every year, at least 3 or 4 gobblers(with minimal hunting).

Now im lucky to get ONE and that is hunting hard!

    55.

Got any possums and or raccoons?

Left unchecked they will destroy your fowl and small animal population.
