Weather was perfect this afternoon for a walk. Tree is either screaming at Cookie or preparing to eat her. Low temps tonight in the 50's. I'm sleeping with the windows open tonight!!

under those leaves is a yellow brick road,,,,
Sure wouldn't take much of a push to drop that old dead tree! I have an Ash in the woods on my property that looks about the same. I remember being scared long, long ago at those apple trees in the movie "Wizzard of Ozz" ! 😁
Awsome
Looks like a scene from a scarry movie
Too bad mother nature or a chainsaw will be it's downfall
Would be a neat yard decoration if the lower part could be salvaged
That looks like an ash tree. All our ash trees died recently, thanks to the Emerald Ash Borer. Good firewood, if you get to them before rot sets in.
looks more like a Red oak to me
We had a lot of ash trees before the ash borer found them. Every one of them is dead now.
Joe
More likely to fall on her. That is a dead tree.
The bark does look like Ash, but I've never seen an as hollow out standing like that.
It's an oak tree that has no top. Methinks that is the reason it's still standing. No branches to sway in the wind, just a nice place for woodland creatures to hang out if they need shelter.
Keep that pup home. That thing could fall anytime. Home development about 6 miles from me was populated entirely with ash trees years ago. They all have died or dying. My pal has a sister & BIL that lives there. We cut about 3 years of firewood for both of us from that one lot.
Cool!
Wish you were closer. I can see a couple of good photo compositions with it shot on either Fuji C200 or Kodak 5222.
Our neighbor's relatives put up a rather substantial steel fence, has to be 80 years ago or more, that some scrap trees have completely grown around!
I cut up a dead standing ash tree yesterday. Got a good Nissan Frontier truck load from that tree. I checked the moisture content with my moisture meter, it is an astonishing 14.8 percent. I never before cut up any wood so dry. I am burning it right now in the Jotul.
Daisy likes ash.
