I gave up at $2200. It went for $2,425. I'm petty and am glad to see the guy that out bid me also go out bid on it.

Gotta wonder about that NR bidder Henryjr1911a1. Wasn't there a Henry on here that would frequently put in penny bids on guns hoping he won?
Side note, I would like own an early Colt 1911.

Not a bad price. I was expecting it to go another 1200.
I wouldn't mind a nickle plated one if the price was right. Figure it's a period finish. There are a couple Remington Rand 1911A1's on the auction side going for a little less than $2k. However, I'd prefer an older non-A1 Colt.
Tell your buddy I'll give him $50 for it, sight unseen. I'll even pay shipping! It'll help keep my nickel/pearl 1903 company.
My dad brought worked in the shipyards during WW2. He brought home a 1911 not a1 with U.S. Navy markings. Unfortunately, someone ground off the serial number. I had it for a number of years but it was stolen during a burglary.
I was told later that the serial number could have been raised metallurgically.
I have a Colt Python, made in 1967, unfired with the box. Wonder what that is worth right now??? I'm not allowed to sell it , because it was a gift from my dad to me on my 50th birthday. He wants me to pass it along to my son, which I would do anyway. My dad bought two of them when he opened his gun store. He put one away for me and he kept one that he shoots and hunts with in PA.
Completed auctions by bid count - high to low ought to give you a general range for the value.
For some reason the forum isn't letting me put a link into this post. So here is a screen shot:
General range for blue $1351 to $3750 with $2500 being about average. I doubt you would see $7500 but you never know. You could broaden your search by taking out the date but I think you would get all the new Pythons in your search.
