The end of the day on Sunday...
Took a little drive around the conservation area. My intentions were to fish and take a short hike. Things usually do not go the way you planned. I arrived at the lake and a guy was trying to get his boat back out of the water and he was hung up. I drove over and asked if he had a chain. We hooked him up and I pulled him out of the water.
I have never seen a more bald set of tires on a truck in my life. I am glad I happened by as the lake is a few miles from anything he did not have a cell phone on him either. He thanked me and I headed over to the other side of the conservation area to take a hike.
I walked about half a mile in to take some pics of Turkeys in the area. I was concealed in some Cedar trees and to my right here came a couple salty looking gentlemen with rifles. Turns out they were yote hunting so I left as I did not want to get in their way.....
So much for fishing and hiking....I did come upon some deer and got a few decent pics. No antlers noted so might have to do some shed hunting this week...

Sounds like it was still a good time, although not what was planned. I'm certain the guy with the boat was glad you came by. Good on you.
Fine, fine photo. I know where you are, but the conservation area is new to me. Where is it from you place?
We were eating supper last night when a herd of 13 deer trotted through the backyard. The strange thing was, there were 2 bucks in the mix. I guess they decided to share the conquests. 😁

A few miles South of Prairie Home....... 1.5K plus acres.. 3 lakes and wild enough in some areas to have a lot of space to roam without many others around. It gets a little more crowed during hunting season.
Bucks are running with the does around here.
But then there is corn involved.
Nice, looks like good fishing and hunting as well as outstanding photo ops. Gotta check to see if those areas are available to out of state hunters. Hard to get drawn here, and over the counter deer hunts are non-existent.
I have never hunted over there.....it gets a might crowded and folks start camping there days in advance to get a better spot.....(which I think screws up the hunting for most of them)
Sounds about what my brother deals with hunting on state land around here @William81 . He spends weeks before season scouting out a good spot. Puts up his tree stand and on opening day, finds some moron has put up a ground blind at the base of the tree he is using!!! 😖
Makes me very thankful for my good private property hunting place!
Yes I have heard they have a few squabbles out there each season. I know there is one group that camps together and Lord help anyone that sets up near them, even though the camping area is quite large...
I am blessed to have a good neighbors, we all give each other plenty of room to hunt but are there to help out the other guy if needed !
Out here there is a lot of public land, BLM, National Forest etc. but private land commands a trespass fee. If you live in town your back yard does not provide a lot of room to hunt. I have hunted Missouri, but always on private land.
