I was told at church today one of our oldest members had passed this morning. Leo was a Korean war veteran and was 93 years old. I have been on the security team and greeter at the door these last 7+ years and enjoyed welcoming him each Sunday.
He drove himself until a year or so ago and was picked up and brought by a family member since then... He would grab and shake my hand with whatever hand was working best for him. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
He always talked about being cold. He said he never warmed up after his service in Korea and surviving the winters there...
RIP Leo... I know you are warm now.....

Sounds like a great guy that I'd like to have met... RIP Leo.
Prayers and condolences to his family and to you and your church family.
RIP Leo.
William81, Sorry for your lost. RIP Leo
One of my old bosses USMA '50 was in Chosin Reservoir. Nicked in back of head. Said to me he was not retreating but advancing in different direction. One freezing cold place.
My little "Willie" at vet today but when I have more time will send a picture of "Winter Trigger" in original pkg for my Garand used in Korea.-----------Ray
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like he was a good man. Condolences to his family.
Leo and his brothers gave so much. Many had their fingers frost bitten and frozen so they came out with this so they could pull the trigger with glove on. Dated March 1953. Glad I was able to find it. ------Ray

I am sorry for your loss.
As the past president of the VFW Ladies Aux the hardest thing to watch was the passing of great men.
In Ferndale on memorial day there are two parades. We have an actual Memorial Day parade and service and a very sacrilegious kinetic sculpture race. One day some tourists asked me if I was watching the this pagan race, I said no. I was going to the cemetery to honor Joe Luis who had landed on Normandy, Antone Rocha who was in intelligence because he still spoke fluent Portuguese and Justin Hindley who saw the fall of Baghdad. (He died of Lou Gehrig's disease)

Sorry for you and your churches loss Frank. The older I get, the more familiar faces I see in the obituary's every day! Every time I lose a close one, my ears will ring for a while after. Pretty sure it is my old buddy talking to God about me.
May your friend RIP
Sad to hear this Frank, RIP Leo.
