Can You ID These Worms?

My dog crapped out this worm today. About 1 1/4 inches long when stretched out. What is the treatment?

Look like tapeworms, or one of the many types of intestinal parasitic worms that dogs get. They make an oral paste that you can give to your buddy, but he might not be your buddy for long....

Easily treatable, but might take a couple of doses. Get it done soon, they just get worse quick.

Liquid Ivermectin from the feed store.I use a hypodermic syringe with no needle to measure the doses depending on the weight of the animal. It will get rid of internal parasites. Some Collie breeds have problems with Ivermectin so if that is the case,I would take the dog to the vet.

Vet trip now, and a flea/tick collar to help prevent reinfection. The tapeworms pass through an intermediate host (fleas) before infecting your dog.

    Get well soon, Daisy!

I was going to give them silly names until I read the story. I hope your pup gets all of them out and soon.

Looks like a cestode segment to me too. I don't know canine treatments, I'd call the vet.

I bought some Pet Armor, which contains praziquantel at the local grocery store. Supposed to kill all these worms. I gave the diseased hound a dose an hour ago. Princess Daisy says "What's the big deal?"

!00% a tape worm segment. Tape worms don't mess up the animal like many parasites do. The tape worm attaches to the intestinal wall(??) with a nasty looking hooked head thing. Instead of living off of the critters blood it lives off of the food in the gut. When the animal is living high the tapeworm grows fast. If the animal is having hard times it will shed LOTS of segments.

A million years ago I had a show ewe lamb start passing tapeworm segments. The vet gave me an expensive pill but said it would get all of them. The next morning I went out to a mass of tapeworms laying on the lambs bedding that probably would have filled two gallon jugs.

Maybe an hour later I heard this really strange sound. I went to see what it was. Two Muscovy ducks were sucking down that pile of tape worms making horrible slurping sounds. It was seriously disgusting!!🤢😲🤮

Take a lesson from dreher's experience. Take her outside frequently until she's clear.

To many old memories when I was about 5 maybe 6 yrs old

I had worms had to drink some nasty tasting medicine but it cleared them out and fast

I think the taste of the med is why I remember it so well

I rember neighbor kids also having the pleasure of dealing with them

I can not remember the last time I heard of a kid getting them thank goodness

I will guess better cleaning habits and washing food and cooking it long enought stopped it

In the past we had a dog that had them but some pills from the vet ended them quick
