Well crap, I got the China virus

waltermoewaltermoe Member Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭✭

Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat, and last night had chills and aches but no temperature. But I got this headache that’s out of this world. Done a home Covid test this morning, it showed positive. Called the doctor and went in and they done one, it was positive. Waiting now for them to call so I can go pick up this paclovid and prednisone.

just got back from the Dr. with my grandson, oddly she said that while covid is still going around and very bad at the moment, it has lessened to the degree it is not much more than a bad case of the flu, and not killing folks like it was. I just thought it was strange to hear a Dr. say its not doomsday anymore........

Hope the meds get you back up and around as soon as possible.

Viruses tend to become less virulent over time. If you kill off all your hosts you are out of business, but if you don't, you live to spread another day. The common cold was once a killer. If you had to get it, I am glad you got it later in the game Walter.

I'm not the first to say that timing is everything but He Dog is right. Much better to get hit with it now than in 2020. Hang in the buddy.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

Blame it on my wife! Might as well because I blame her for everything else!😀

I do hope you have nothing more than a mild case. Judy started the Paxlovid Wednesday very soon after her first symptoms appeared. I understand that starting the treatment as early as possible is the key. So far her symptoms have not gotten worse than a bad head cold and other than that she feels good. Hopefully you catching it early means the drug will work good for you too.

On a positive note, to stay away from Judy so as not to catch the crud, I'm getting a lot of outside spring clean-up done. If I didn't know better I would think she planned it this way. Bob

I thought Brandon declared the bat flu was no longer a issue.

I call BS on his opinion.

I got it last fall, within a couple days my wife caught it.

We had every kind of daytime/nighttime medicine, trying to get some relief. It hit us pretty hard as far as headache and zero energy etc., so we slept a LOT.

I was trying to sort out what pills/syrup/potions to take next, daytime or nighttime and got tickled, got to laughing so hard it gave me a laughing coughing attack, because it was so stupid to worry about what type to take, because even if it was noon, I'm just going under a blanket again, not going to work, so phuckit. Take nighttime all day and daytime all night, who cares.

Get lot's of rest. Keep us posted.

I had it in January. I was glad it wasn't pneumonia. It was still pretty unpleasant. I've had pneumonia. To me it's worse than covid. Paxlovid knocked it down fairly quick

Well it’s been two days now taking the Paxlovid, three more days left until done. I’m feeling a lot better, this stuff works. You take three pills at a time twice a day, and it gives a new meaning to the term horse pills, almost like having a meal. LOL. Still horse in the throat but Wanda/wife read that’s a side effect of the Paxlovid. Appetite has not been effected which is a good thing.

I blame myself in that I dropped my guard. I never did put much stock in wearing a masks, but I do believe in hand washing and hand sanitizers after leaving a store or pumping gas, or any where else where other people have touched things before you. I am counting my self lucky in that I didn’t catch the earlier variants of this virus and now they have a antiviral medication that seems to work.

Thank you all for your concerns and prayers, have a great day.

Glad you are doing better, continue to do so. Best.

Glad you are doing better. Judy is on her final day of paxlovid and is doing great. In fact she came outside to help me in the yard yesterday with my spring cleanup. Tomorrow we have to open the gun club for the high school skeet team and according to the medical guidelines she was given she can help as long as she has no symptoms. She should no longer be contagious.

I have managed to avoid having any symptoms so far but had become a little less stringent about hand washing /sanitizing. Guess I'll get back on track with that again. Bob

@BobJudy I’m glad your wife Judy is having the same results with the Paxlovid as I am. It appears that they got it right with this formula of medicine. Kind of ironic in that, the virus came from China, the test kits for the virus come from China, and that the Paxlovid was manufactured in China. Kind of makes one think that maybe this whole virus experience was planned and carried out on purpose. Again I’m glad to hear she is better and up and moving around.

@allen griggs Yes I got the shots back in March and April of 2021. Wanda/wife had to fly out to Stanford university with her daughter account of her daughter had to have heart surgery for a bridge in heart, and they were the only one’s that could perform this surgery. Hospital insisted that she have the shots in order to accompany her daughter inside the hospital, her daughter wasn’t required to have the shots. I got the shots with her more or less to support her. Personally, looking back, I think there was a lot of BS put out about these shots.

@Ditch-Runner I hope your surgery is successful. You will be in my prayers for a successful out come and a speedy recovery.

I'm feeling left out. I still haven't caught it and I know I have been exposed many times.

  • allen griggsallen griggs Member Posts: 35,616 ✭✭✭✭

You had the shots and yet you still caught the Corona. Doesn't sound like a very effective vaccine.

My sister in law has had five shots and yet she has caught the Corona twice.
