Do you live in Capistrano?
No but these mighta come from there!
They've been woop, woop, wooping it up over here for the last week. Love listening to them in the evenings and early morning.
Just the doves and robins here so far
Seen the first swallows today, Sandhill Cranes got here last week
We have birds of every description around here except the purple Martin's. First year in 10 trying to attract them . New houses but no takers . Saw the first Redwing blackbirds I had seen in several years recently . I have bluebirds nesting in two of my boxes . A house wren has a nest in the wreath on the front door and another wren is nesting in a parts cabinet in my shop.
So did you go snipe hunting with a bag to catch them in as a kid with the older kids teaching you get left in the woods lol
Oh yeah! The old “snipe hunt” trick. I think many of us fell for that one. I only caught 3. How many did you catch?
Saw turkey vultures over NM, TX, OK, AR and Tn. end of last month. You must be somewhere north.
Yes He Dog. NE Washington.
For those of you that haven't seen one before, this is what Merlinnv12's talking about.
We had a nesting pair last year, but I could never find the nest. I will try again this year!
Visitor to a coyote carcass this week
Turkey vultures are year round residents. Never a shortage of them . Bobwhite quail have almost completely disappeared. Too many hawks , owls and coyotes around . Saw the resident bald eagles last week
The Canadian Geese are back... And our Bald Eagles must have lost there nest because they just haven't been around, but came in for a visit... The Mallard are pairing off, the Band tail pigeon are on my feeder and the doves are courting... And I saw a few swallows...

There is an elderly lady that hangs around our woods and the pond down the road. One day she was in her car in front of my west woods. I stopped and asked her if she was having car trouble. She said, "No I'm a birder and was just looking at the birds in your woods".
Every time I see her we wave to each other. I suspect she is a widow and that's how she passes the time.
