New Mantel I made
Oakie

Made this mantel from the walnut tree slab, that my friend gave me.
The sun was glaring off the last picture. It came out absolutely gorgeous. Going to make turkey calls, out of the left over pieces. Oak

Magnificent! That walnut has a bit of character and should look great over the fireplace! Bob
Now about those turkey calls...
Great job Oakie! IMMIC, you said this was going into one of your rental places. If it was to be in your house, I'd say now all you need is a nice flintlock longrifle to hang over it! 😁
The color and grain is beautiful.
Indeed.
Not too shabby for a tin banger!
That's rifle stock quality. Very nice Oak 👍️
I have been making turkey calls for about twenty years. I make them, then give them away. It is a hobby, that at point, got out of control. Was costing me a fortune to make them in time, not material. Maybe a giveaway for one, when I get the time. Right now, I am over whelmed.
That is gorgeous !!! Post a pic of it installed when it is all done !
Well, at least that will keep you off the streets and out of trouble. According to Martha Stewart, that is a good thing!
Black walnut is a beautiful wood.
I started those calls. Gonna take me while. I will work on it, in-between projects. I'm curious on how they are going to sound. Walnut is really hard, so they should sound great. The bottom three pictures, where custom made calls, in the process of being made for friends. My one friend is a huge bow hunter, and wanted something related to a bow and arrow. I came up with the arrow design.
Great looking call there, @Oakie
I wanna be first in line for the production version!
Nice mantle.
List some them calls on the auction side @Oakie
It is more of a hobby , then a money maker. I like to make things, then give them away to people. All my metal craft and wood crafts, I just give away. I make yard art out of rebar and old tools. I'm making the fish, for a friends garage. The deer head I made, was for a gentleman that helped me out of the woods, after I had a heart attack a few years ago. He hung it on his barn.
Nice
Nice Turk calls.
I remember the deer ,but haven't seen the fish. Both pretty cool.
