    Never Buy a HP Printer.

Last Printer I bought was a Epson 645, 5 years ago. Yes Ink has gone up. (and I figured how to get it to use generic ink cartridges)

The old HP would put me in the poor house every month.

Use a Brother Laser printer (4 years old) to do labels and just straight black and white (cheap). Use generic toner and drum there too.

Had an epson all in one- was the worse. constant issues with it

Currently have a HP that has been trouble free. Yes the ink is pricey, but for as little as we print any more I worry more about the cartridge drying out vs running out. So for as long as they last for us, we're good.

I use a Canon that accepts generic refills. I paid $35 for the printer, and get XL refills for $15-18, black and color. This is my 2nd printer of the same model, and the last one was over 5 years old when it started giving trouble.

Dumped the HP. Had to take out a bank loan to reload it.

Use a Brother now, much better.

I posted the following a couple of months ago.

My old hunting pal use to say.......HP printers are the rich man's Xerox machine. 😬

He was right. I even tried some ink cartridge "refill" kits..........messy.

After a few years of putting solid gold cartridges in our first printer.......an HP......it cratered.

Best Buy had the Brother MFC-240C printer on sale for 50 bucks each(we went back and bought two more........kids you know). It uses individual black, red, blue, yellow ink cartridges(note that colors are consumed at different rates). At the time, factory Brother cartridges cost about $15 each.

Well.......it didn't take long for me to find generic ink cartridges on ChinaBay. Fast forward a few years........and the last "ink" I bought consisted of 18........yeah.....that's EIGHTEEN cartridges.......for a TOTAL of $19.70......including TT&L......to my front door.

Our major cost now is........PAPER!! (note.....the wife and I print out many Sudoku puzzles)

It gets even better.........cause when the two kids FINALLY moved out......I "inherited" two printers. Can you say......Backups!!! 😁

    Hope this helps.

I've got a 13"x19" Canon Photo printer that I use "Precision Inks" to refill my carts. Much more affordable and not a big mess if you're careful.

Have an HP and subscribe to the instant ink program at $4.99 per month. They monitor the ink level and send new cartridges when needed. I don’t use color and the B&W cartridges go on forever.

I buy cheap ink for my Brother printer from needink.com and they work perfectly. HP recently made it impossible to use generic cartridges - the printer reads a chip in the cartridge to determine if it is genuine HP or not. My wife has had enough of HP and just bought an Epson tank model. She prints out a lot more than I do.

I'd strongly advise getting either a Brother or Epson.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

We bought an Epson ET-4760 several years ago. It has 4 different tanks, with the largest one for black ink. My wife goes nuts printing out all her genealogy stuff, and the printer still has about 1/2 tank full of black ink.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it is slower than most and noisy. But it is the easiest on ink than any other printer we've had.

Have had a Epson WF-3640 for years and never had a problem. There is no way you could sell this printer for what I paid for it and make money on it.

So why do I keep buying over priced ink cartridges for it? I don't know. It must be a sickness. -----------------------------Ray

Just ran across an article that HP places a chip in their printers and unless you use their ink it disables the printer!!! Can this be true🤨
