going to Israel

elubsmeelubsme Member Posts: 2,191 ✭✭✭✭

My wife, daughter and grand daughter have booked a trip to Israel. With the termoil and uncertainty in today's world this seems to be a dangerous decision. . They are going with a group and leave on the 5th of June. I am strongly against this trip, but have been over ruled. I probably won't sleep for 18 days worrying about their safety but have no influence in the matter. Not sure why I'm sharing this, but could use some reassurance.

Israel is probably the safest place to travel to overseas

I'm sure the Israelis take the safety of tourists very seriously and that your girls will all be watched over very carefully. I would really dig in the heels if they wanted to go to Mexico!

Better and safer than Chicago in my state. It will be great trip for them. IF I had to choose between anywhere in South America or Israel it would be the later.

Isreal takes their own safety seriously, thus that of visitors as well. We have traveled there and never felt any threat. There are areas like Bethlehem that are Moslem occupied, and you are not welcome, so you don't go there. Likely safer than shopping in a Texas mall.

Your fears are understandable but as others have said they'll probably be safer there than your in own neighborhood. A safe flight over would be my greater concern "if" I had any. The stats are in their and your favor. It's a trip of a lifetime, let them enjoy it.

Would you rather they spend the week in Chicago, or D.C.?????

Israel is a pretty safe place to visit. I am super jealous of them. I want to go there badly.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

They will be safe over there. Man those gals are lucky. I would like to visit there some day, but hate to fly, so I will never see it. My sister loves Israel and has been there many times. She said she never felt unsafe and she is a chicken poop, when it comes to that.

elubsme, your worry is understandable. I've flown into Munich a few times and the first time amazed me. Their idea of security is nothing like ours. The first time I landed a couple of security guards stopped me and were firm but polite asking who I was, where I was going, why was I there. I might add that their HK's were great. A friend of mine has taken flights into Israel an number of times and said that Israel security is even a step above. The same for just walking around town and shopping etc. There is security everywhere - polite but all business. Relax, tell them to have a great time, and send us all some pictures.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

My Dad wants to go to Israel... I also think it's not a smart decision. But we will pray our dear Lord will be with them 🙏

I do feel a bit less concerned and worried by all of your positive comments. Thank you guys. After all, these are three of the most important ladies in my life and I am quite worried about their safety.

I've a close friend who visited Israel a couple of years ago with his mother and sister. They had a great time.

If possible.....be sure to visit the Mount Of Masada. Truly humbling.
