Air Quality Alert

Bubba Jr.Bubba Jr. Member Posts: 8,304 ✭✭✭✭

For our county and the surrounding counties. Due to the smoke from Canada and upper Michigan. It was pretty smoky yesterday here in West Central Ohio, but just kind of hazy here now.

Last night I slept beside an open window and when I woke up my nose was all plugged up and my throat was sore. Then watching the news this morning I found out why.

The alert is supposed to expire at midnite.

It's always something.

Joe

It looks like fog in the Upper Peninsula. We have been smelling it for two weeks.

The smoke is bad here too in the northern lower with the Gaylord fire burning. Air quality has been bad as well due to the heavy pollen drop without any rain. I hose my car down every morning to get the yellow crap off the windows. My blacktop driveway has been yellow for the last couple of weeks as well. My nose is red and runny and my eyes are red too on a count of it. At least they're not YELLOW!

@Brookwood Cloudy down here in Lapeer county but surprisingly no evidence of any smoke or haze from the fires to the north. They said Monday that the Grayling 2400 acre fire was 90% contained so that may be the reason. We have about a 10mph breeze from the north but the only thing I am dealing with is the heavy pollen. Our yard is surrounded by pines and at time there will be a yellow cloud rolling by. Not any chance of rain until the weekend and we sure could use some. Bob

We have a Low coming up from Baja that is bringing not only moisture but southwest winds. Storms likely and no smoke today in Utah. Hurrah for both!

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

In Monroe, NY could hardly see across the street at 4pm. Smell was very bad and would almost choke you.

Took this picture of my sweetheart in 1989 on trip across N.America. I can't remember exactly where. I think it was Alberta. Notice area behind her had been burned out. Diane is holding match box to remind me where it was. I believe over 5,000,000 Acres burned. Might have to enlarge (from small picture) If anyone recognizes this area give me a holler.

We spent a couple nights in Big Berland Recreational Area in Alberta In July and we had to put our jackets on at night around camp fire. Water looked to be about three feet deep and you could see every rock on the bottom. It was a beautiful place and our 25th Anniversary.

Ran across this little fact while searching for wildfires in Canada. On September 17, 1868, Barkervile, B.C. was destroyed by fire and 116 homes were destroyed. The fire was caused by a miner trying to kiss one of the girls in a saloon. The ensuing struggle dislodged a stove pipe, setting the canvas ceiling on fire. ----------------------------------Ray

We don't have any smell here but the sky is overcast and has been for a week or so. This is southwest pa. We need rain bad here. We got fifteen minutes worth Saturday that knocked the power out for a day and that's the only rain we've had since the second week of May.

We finally got some rain here yesterday. All of .13". But so far this year we have gotten 15.69" of rain.

We have the smoke here in the NC mountains and an air quality alert. You can't smell the smoke.

Must be a helluva fire up there in Canada.
