BUY member's listing, RECEIVE shipment from retailer (NUMRICH, THUNDER TACTICAL)?

Has anyone ever bought something from a GB.com member's listing, and then receive the items in a shipment direct from a large gun part retailer (instead of the member)? I have been on GB.com and eBay for about 20 years now and have NEVER heard of, experienced, or seen this before. But just a tale of caution, bought some items from someone in MI state and to my absolute surprise the items came directly from NUMRICH Gun Parts in NY State. How do I know? NUMRICH's receipt was in the box with his name and address as the BILL TO address and my address as the SHIP TO address. The member had listed items from NUMRICH's website, using their photos, description, and then he tripled the price. Shame on me for not shopping around, but it cost this guy $240 with free shipping from NUMRICH, when he charged me around $400 + shipping, and obviously he won't take returns. Just wondering if I am crazy? But, to me this is an extremely dishonest practice as the seller literally did nothing, he didn't own the items he was (still is) listing, Didn't take the pictures, describe, sell, pack or ship them to me himself. I payed him, he then used my money to go buy the items from NUMRICH and they [NUMRICH] shipped them directly to me from NY State. For anyone who sells on here, you know that it takes time and effort to own items, and spend the time taking photos, describing, and shipping what you are selling. This guy did nothing, didn't even pack the box or go to the post office to drop of the shipment. I just had NO IDEA you could act in the capacity of a "broker" on GB.com or eBay. However he is on GB and eBay still right now doing the same thing. I reported him on both platforms but neither platform has banned this guy. I literally showed them the stolen pictures from NUMRICH and the receipt from NUMRICH proving the items did not come from him. He does NOT DISCLOSE that the items are not located on MI and that they will come direct to you from NUMRICH Gun Parts or Thunder Tactical, etc. Did anyone know that you could sell in this way on GB.com? Because if so, and since GB nor eBay did anything about it I guess I can just list Brownells entire inventory, using their pictures and descriptions and just hope an order comes in so I can bill myself and have Brownells ship to the buyer while I charge them triple what they are selling it for on their retail website. I never knew you could lie about where the item(s) were located and not disclose you dont actually own the item listed and it may run out of stock, as he doesn't work for any of these retailers. Should this not be something that GB and eBay ban or restrict a member for?

Yep.....as a dealer you can be a part of their drop ship programs. You just list the item and when the buyer pays you release it to them from the wholesaler. There are several places that do this. Davidsons has kiosks in some retail stores, so you are doing that sort of thing in person when that happens. You go on the computer in the store, order what you want and the store gets a small percentage of the sale....it is then delivered to the store for you to pick up if it is a firearm, or delivered to you directly if it does not require an FFL.

As far as parts and extras....you can deal with them without being a dealer. Every large website lets you do this....its just one of the ways people make extra money these days. There are several Youtube videos showing how you can list items for sale using this drop ship method on vairous websites.

So where's the dishonesty? The seller listed an item on GB for a price. You saw auction/item and liked it enough to bid/buy. Item arrived at your doorstep in condition as described in auction. There's no monkey business going on.

    More 🧀. Less 🍷.

I don’t think a seller must disclose all their business practices on GB. The OP got what he purchased and that’s the end of the story.

Probably the end of this thread, too. IBTL.

    Paragraphs are your friend.

Lots of big sellers on gunbroker are drop shippers. They dont carry any inventory.

Probably half the top 100 sellers and almost all the Top 10 sellers here on Gunbroker are drop shippers. It is really really common.

Research pays off most of the time. (most of the time) I ALWAYS research my purchases, but then I am retired and have the time available.

If you bought one of my pistols from Locust Fork, would you be mad you did not buy it directly from me?

Unless you didn't get what you paid for, I'm failing to see any issue here, whatsoever. @Ruger4me nailed it, you're just upset you paid more than you think you should have.

Live and learn, research is your friend, patience is a virtue, buyer beware, once burned twice shy. I can think of a few more but YOU were the one that agreed with the price, where it came from is irrelevant to your successful purchase and the sellers successful sale.
