Prayers Please
I just talked to my Army buddy John from Piedmont, SC. It sounded like good bye old pal. His EF was 25 when my sweetheart Diane passed at Christmas. His heart and lungs are shot. He is at home and his kidneys are failing.
We were the last two in our Co. to receive orders at Ft, Jackson, SC. Half to Germany and half to Korea. We were sitting on our duffel bags in the dark and the 1st Sgt, delivered our orders in Dec. 1961. We were on Red Alert during Cuban Missile Crisis. We never knew why but just the two of us were sent to West Point. Somehow, we missed Nam because we were RA and too short to be extended I guess.
John was a little on the crazy side. He was a Skydiver at Stewart AFB ( Army 2nd Aviation) and in Korea also. We had a reunion in Las Vegas in July 2005. A few years back he drove up to my Virginia home to visit with me. I am so glad I got to tell him that I love him like a brother today. Please if you would say a prayer for my friend John and his Family------Ray
