Bernardelli VP Model

Last week I picked up a Bernardelli VP in 25 ACP up in OR at a LGS. Had won it here on GB and it was described as a parts gun. And that the gun wouldn't cock. Otherwise looked OK.

Turns out it was a combination of missing parts, incorrect parts (shares some parts with the Iver Johnson version) and incorrect reassembly. I've solved all of the functioning parts. Great fun test firing in one's back yard! One problem remains, regards take-down.

First step of disassembly for cleaning is to press a button headed cross bolt that releases the retaining bolt at the rear of the gun. The bolt release is spring powered. See below.

The spring in the retaining bolt is missing. The bolt has to be removed to put it in place. Anybody have the VP 25 and done it? There's got to be some trick to it that I'm missing.

There are several videos on YouTube about the .25 vest pocket involving takedown etc. One possible source of info.

Yes, is the same as yours but not quite as good a shape.

Disconnector was missing. Safety spring was missing, firing pin indicator missing too. Replaced those - Numrich had nothing, used Jack First and Interarms.

It looks as though the trigger bar must be removed to back out the retaining bolt.
