The gun hasn't been fired in 20+ years. We cannot pull the slide back, it won't move. The gun is not cocked. The trigger moves freely. Any suggestions? it was my friends Fathers and he has no knowledge of firearms. my assembly instructions says "if the strut is not in place, the bolt cannot be drawn back". Thanks, Ed

That's right. Pull out the take down latch on the backstrap and you will see the little hammer strut. Swing it out and close the latch. When you get the end of the strut to land in the mainspring depression the gun will cock. Usually takes me about three tries. Pulling the trigger will help the strut swing freely.
Ricci got it. It's kinda like the trapeze move at the circus.
Thanks guys. I called a friend who is an instructor at our local gunsmith college and he said "Bring 'er down, Ed!". Boy, was it ever dirty, he even cleaned up some of the rust spots. My friend, the owner will be very pleased to have his Dad's gun in working order. Small towns are the best.
