I just finished up babysitting my three day old granddaughter for an hour!!
Tending to her might be more accurate. Our daughter had just finished nursing Penelope and wanted to get a few things done. She placed sleeping little P in a little carrier, put her on the table I was sitting at and off she went to get a few chores done.
Almost an hour of watching a three day old baby girl sleep!! Talk about heart warming!! Many little movements like smiles and dreaming about nursing, if lip movements are anything to go by. I was just sitting there thanking the Lord for such an amazing hour of watching the miracle of life!! I sat there and smiled and smiled and smiled!!
Watching her run around the house doing chores, there was no way to tell she had given birth three days earlier.
I guess all those 5 k, 10 k and marathons she runs toughened her up. Her last run was a half marathon at 5 1/2 months pregnant. I jokingly asked when her next 5 K was. I got told probably around October 1st!
I was joking. She wasn't.😁 Great kids make for a wonderful life!! Thank you LORD!!!

Penelope. I love that name!!!!
It's amazing how fast an hour goes by when you're staring at a baby.

I bet that plumb wore you out!
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I wasn't worn out, I was to busy smiling to be worn out. OK, maybe my smile muscles were a little tired!!!😁
Grandbabies are The Best. Congrats to you.
What no pictures of a sleeping baby P?

Great granddaughter Aria. She's a year old, now. I call her Copper Top . She has red hair.
I concur, Granddaughters are great. Spend as much time with her as you can, they grow up way too fast.

I sure do enjoy grandparenthood!
Back when my Mrs. and I were raising ours, I was left with the youngest son who was just a couple months old at her fathers house. Both her dad (my father in law) and I were together alone while the gals in the family went off to attend a baby shower for some relative.
Baby was sleeping in the play pen when they left and ole granddad sat mesmerized watching him snooze away so very peaceful and angelic! He was a pretty loud talking Sicilian fella (his name was Vito) and kept telling me how proud he felt seeing his grandson laying there! The baby, hearing the conversation started waking up making these funny grunting noises. All of a sudden the awful smell of a loaded diaper hit our noses simultaneously!
FIL just looks at me straight in the eye and says, that's your kid Joe......you better get busy!! 😲
Did I mention that I sure do enjoy grandparenthood!!! 😁
I was in the grocery store today and saw a grandmother with a little fireball of a "helper" 😁
Asked the grandmother if the helper was everything her mother deserved -- grandmother got a huge grin and replied, "More than!"
😄😄
That's really the only saving grace of having kids😆
Spoil them and send them home! Told my daughter she was paying for her raising!!!
Grandkids are your reward for not strangling your kids when they were teenagers.
I'm going to be a grandparent come October, so I am hoping I get to do what @dreher did in a few months.
