Interesting, news to me
Well, I would imagine you do now.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Yup, polymer bullets.
I carry that shape bullets. In copper, not plastic.
There used to be a .38 Special loading that consisted of a copper tube of about 65 grains IIRC. Had a pusher disc at the base of the bullet that kept the gas sealed. Faster than blue lightning, they claimed. Uh huh. But no mass. Might not have penetrated a heavy tee shirt, I'd bet.
I shoot ARX ammo in a little pocket .380. Always goes bang.
I read on another forum that Interseptor Ammo went out of business.
The PMC tubular bullet was quietly dropped. I remember at the time (1990) doctors complained that it cut a sharp, round hole through the body which was very difficult or impossible to repair. When a person was shot with one the shock was negligible and the person would just see a red ring where he was hit. Even though the bullet was light, resistance was very low and the cookie-cutter design would easily penetrate the body. I read several wound reports about it.
The "cookie cutter" was banned. It not only cut cookies, but would clip a neat hole right thru a Kevlar vest. There was also (briefly) a 38 Special with a white plastic bucket mouth hollow point. Intended for areas where overpenetration was a worry. Have one round of each in my cartridge collection.
In my day, Super Vel was the rage.
The 45ACP was a 190gr. JHC........at about 1100fps.....IIRC.🤔
Still is...........in my mostly-stay-at-home Gold Cup NM.😎😉
That's interesting about the PMC cookie cutter.
Years back I used 90 gn. "critical defense" in my 380. Had what I believe was called "FTX" core?
