Nice Close Shave

About every two weeks or so I get a hankering to shave. I remove most of my beard with a trimmer before I pick up my Gilette safety razor. I bought a quality vintage German straight razor about two years ago, but I am afraid I will cut my own throat, so it stays in a drawer. I use Proraso Italian shaving cream. It comes in a tube, has a great Eucalyptus smell and forms a great lather with my brush. I just finished and man it feels and smells great. I have to go and stare at my pretty face in the mirror now.

I have been a fan of Cremo tube cream for years. I used Harry's blades until they went woke. Tried Jeremy's but they were too aggressive for my face. Saw a package of Cremo razor, blades, cream and aftershave balm at Costco. Didn't know they made razors and blades, but for $25 I couldn't afford not to try one. Wow. It feels like there's no blade at all but the whiskers are gone. Smoothest, easiest shave ever.
This is for my face, of course. I have very fine whiskers and hair. If you have a barbed wire beard, it might not be for you.
I Shave once a week wheather I need to or not.
The best blades i ever used were Wilkinson sword brand . Very hard to find now .
My son got into shaving with safety razors a while back . He must have bought and tried 25 or 30 types of blades and an equal number of shaving creams ,powders and cakes soaps ..Tried a straight razor exactly once. Think he used a plain old disposable razor now .
I stopped shaving 6 months ago. I just stopped because I was tired of it.

I should add that my first wife and I were married 3 years before she saw me without a beard.
Mine has never seen me without a beard. Going on 38 years.
I was required to shave when working but has a stash for all 25 years. Stopped shaving the day I retired, 18 years ago.
Shave twice a week......or the wife won't go near me.
I've used the disposable Gillette Good News razors for many years. Get six or so shaves out of each one.
Back in the day.....I tried many types.....even a Norelco electric.
This reminds me of a formerly famous(now infamous) comedian's joke......from the 1960's.

I shave about every three days or so now after I retired
use to do it every day when I was working
I used the old safety razors when younger like most of you then went with the throw away versions or replaceable head type
I bought a Stright razon a long time ago at a garage sale just to try it . managed to not cut off a ear or my nose mostly just to see what it was like😁
I'm on the same schedule. Been thinking about trying an electric shaver. Can anyone recommend one?
The two most often recommended are Braun and Norelco.
Tried sporting a beard in my younger days. Wasn't the same on both sides, looked like I had mange.
I started to say "pics or it didn't happen" then I remembered it was Ricci's mug. 😁

Ok Here. I left the mustache.
Had a 'stach for 30 years until the late Sunshine made me shave it -- she didn't like the silver 'stach and my still brown hair😂
