Amazingly stupid ignorant people voting

Including my own brother. These idiots do not understand what a Republic is, how and why it functions the way it does. It works to prevent mob rules and the trampling of individual rights by popular vote.

My brother claims it is supposed to be one man one vote and 50% plus one wins. He is too blinded by his (D) loving Biden voting wife to see the folly in that thought process. He can not see how the Constitution limits government and protects the individual from the mobs feelings. It should take a super majority to change it!

Ohio has a special election in August to change law to a 60% popular vote to alter our State Constitution rather than the current 50% plus one. Liberals and baby murderers want to go to ballot in November with it being just 50% to codify "reproductive rights" Well you know the population centers like Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati are going to make the decision for the remainder of the State.

Individual rights? To hell with those, do as the mob says or else.

    Yep, popular vote would be a disaster for sure!

    IF and that's a big IF, we ever get the vote to work the way it was written then we will be fine. Too much gerry meandering and other shenanigans are ALLOWED to happen right now!

    Have any of you seen the youtube video on the stupid people matrix? Stupid people may be nobel prize winners, world leaders or college professors. The inherent thing about stupid people is they act in a manner that hurts themselves and others at the same time, a negative-negative benefit. Compare this to the thief, we know the thief is going to hurt you and advance himself we can do things to avoid the thief. We know smart people will try to set up a win-win in life's circumstances. Stupid people are the downfall of a nation, the downfall of mankind and are way more prevalent in society than one would realize.

    In any form of representative gov't, there will be both winners and losers. Unfortunately, losers today don't understand that the gov't is not at an individuals beck and call, but instead must govern the populace as a whole.

    I hear big city libs complaining that the fly over states have as much say in elections as they do. Big city libs think that their votes should count more than the voters in 2/3 of the states. Hmm.... sounds to me like they want to have a form of feudalism and all of us serfs shouldn't have a say in how the country is run.

    We have managed to forget Franklin's "We have a republic, if we can keep it" warning. Maintaining a republic takes constant vigilance but it appears to be worth it. Has any other country performed better in the last 2 1/2 centuries since our constitution was ratified? My personal belief is passing a basic civics class would do a lot toward improving the quality of our voters. Bob

    Big city votes DO count more than the votes of the rest of us. Just look at the red and blue results by county for the entire USA. It isn't even close. The red counties vastly outnumber the blues, but the blues are clustered in the large urban areas and thus throw the elections.

    In a sense you are correct but only partially. Each individuals vote, no matter where it is cast counts the same. If a states lib/dem voters outnumber the republican voters the electoral vote go democrat and vice versa. Look at the 2020 election map from New York;

    Trump won a lot more counties than Biden, but since the libs/dems cluster in the big cities good old geriatric Joe took the state by a large margin. No matter where a voter lives in the state, his vote counts the same. Land doesn't get a vote so winning, by comparison, just the sparsely populated counties does no good. That's democracy at work, people not area are what counts. My state, Michigan, is in the same boat and it does kind of suck but you can't deny anyone's vote just because they live in the big urban centers.

    There will always be winners and losers and the loser will always blame the other side as not playing fair. We need Republican politicians that can draw the independent votes and stop just playing to their parties base. Bob

    Was listening to mass media today. They claimed DJT supporters only care about money, power and control. Funny, isn't that what the democrats already have. ------------Ray

    It is coming down to the flyover States Vs. Megalopolis in values, politics and expectations from Government. All the flyover States can do is starve the buzzards out or have Civil War, Part II.

    BobJudy, there is another NY Counties map out there. A handful, NYC, Westchester, LI, Capitol District all endorsed the NY Safe (unsafe) Act of 2013. The rest of the county governments/ sheriffs, virtually the whole state was opposed to the NY State Safe Act. It is what it is. ---------------------Ray

    I remember reading about that when it happened. That does suck but it is the price we pay for living in a democratic republic. The only way to change that outcome would be to convince a majority to see their error. Unfortunately, politics has become a my way or the highway situation and neither side will compromise about anything. The other side is wrong no matter what they say according to the folks on the other side of the aisle.

    The safe act reminds me of the assault weapons ban. It accomplished nothing, but that doesn't matter because it made those that voted for it feel good. Long term results do not matter, only the brief sense of accomplishment at the polling place. This permeates all levels of government. The best example recently were the never Trumpers voting in Geriatric Joe. A lot of independents briefly felt good voting out Trump but now realize Joe wasn't necessarily the lesser of two evils. Act in haste and repent at leisure seems an apt description of most of our election results lately. Bob
