2 Weeks of House Arrest

After way too many years of pain and trying all other options, I underwent back surgery yesterday.
Decompresion Lumbar Laminectomy.
I have soreness at the incision but, my legs and feet feel great.
Two weeks of nothing but laying down.
Sitting only for 30 minutes at a time.
Short walks are allowed.
No vehicle travel.
6 weeks off of work at least.
90 degrees today so it's not too bad being stuck inside.

I had that done back in 2005. It worked really great, and the healing time was fast. At that time, They also shaved some of the disc off too. It was a laminectomy/discectomy. The fusions came when I broke it in 9 places in the accident. You might experience some pain later on, due to scar tissue, but that will eventually disappear. Don't panic or worry if some pain comes back, as it is to be expected. Good luck sir, and keep me informed on how you are healing. Oakie
Heal fully.
Hope you recover fully. People who have never had back problems don't know what it's like.
Please, listen to the docs from start to finish!
Hope you feel well soon.
Don't rush to do more than the doc says. We are all tough guys (😉) but the doc knows best.
good to hear
I have been fighting lower back problems fro 10 years and it sucks
I have a surgery coming up on my intestines. cutting out a small section ( after 3 delays hope this one makes it thru
after that I am serious considering my back I am so tired of the pain and limited amount of things I can do because of it
but for years i as worried they would make it worse . now I think it could only be better
Two weeks of inactivity would be tough to do, Chief! Glad you're feeling better and I hope it continues to improve for you.
Hoping you follow the dr orders and heal completely.
I had the same operation twice, the last one was five months ago. Some advice; you are probably going to feel better very fast, don't take the bait and start doing "stuff" the longer you take it easy, the better the result.
Go slow and do everything you are instructed to do and you'll be back playing in NFL in no time.
Good luck
You are surely in my prayers Chief! I know what you have been going through from experience. Have had 3 major back surgeries starting from my late 20s. The last was in 2008 when I was 52. Had a titanium cage bolted in around my lower 3 vertebrae. The pain endured over all these years is immeasurable for sure. The good days have been a true blessing for me!
Thank you all for the good wishes and prayers.
I'm definitely going to follow DR's orders.
I'm doing ok so far.
Getting up and down is an issue and I never realized how low just about everything in the house is.
The wife is taking very good care of me.
I'm lucky that she is a teacher and has the time off.
"Getting up and down is an issue and I never realized how low just about everything in the house is."
You have that right, until you have back surgery, you don't realize how much of the world is below your knees.
I have an extra vertebra in my spine, which has caused me pain most of my life. I've heard too many horror stories about the surgeon nicking the spinal cord to have anything done about it. I just deal with it.

During the laminectomy they remove part of the bone over the afflicted area. Mine was done C-2 through C-6. The beef I have is those bones are mine but they refused to give them to me saying they were a bio hazard. I was insulted them thinking parts of me are a bio hazard. I wanted my used parts back!
I hope you follow the doctors instructions to the letter and heal pain free for decades to come.
