Inflation

Sleepy Joe and those in charge in DC keep telling us inflation is getting better or is over. i don't see it.

Three days ago reg gas at Sunoco in Monroe, NY was $3.53.9 and yesterday morning it was $3.65.9.

A 2 liter bottle of Coke is $1.99. A slice of any cake is $6.99. Six months ago tiny Stouffers chip beef/gravy was $3.49 now it is $4.99. Then they send you a 50cent coupon in the mail to make you think you are getting a good deal! I don't even buy sliced ham any more. A few slices for $8+.I buy a big chunk in Aldis for $10 and it last. Everything you pick up in the food store is like 30% more than it should be.

My 50' x 150' lot and house in Monroe, NY I pay over $7,000 in taxes. If I were not a Veteran it would be more like $10,000. My total taxes in Virginia for small house and three acres are less than $800.

My annual sewer bill in Monroe is $500+. What a bunch of crooks. In Virginia I clear off top of septic tank and have it pumped out every 10 years for $150.

I can't go in Walley World, HD, or Lowes and pick up hardly anything anymore that was not made in China and sold to us at some outrageous price. Soon, if this keeps up, they will be taking our money and converting it to the largest military force on the planet. Well, they already are.

Right around the corner from me a bank is offering 5.35% APY on a certificate. If i invest in it, how much do you think it will cost you to borrow my money???????????

Meanwhile our president and his son are involved in antics that could put our whole country in jeopardy and borders on treason.

Invest in Gold/Silver you say. Sure if you hang on to it and sell when the timing is right but what if a rogue government upsets the Apple Cart. It happened once and someday when i have the time i will tell you folks about the Gold in my Great Grandmothers house hidden from the Yanks in the stairs. In the early 30's the "T" men were GOD. You can't eat the damn stuff. i know there will be a lot of hunters in the woods looking for the same venison but i think I will invest in AMMO instead.

I suppose you could call this a rant but the rant is over. i feel a tiny bit better now. -----------------------Ray

I feel your pain and have the same anger issues that you do. Sure, inflation may have slowed but that means that the monthly increase is continuing. The 3% they are quoting now is on top of the massive inflation from the last couple of years. If an item cost $100 three years ago then the increase is $3.00. But wait, it now costs $200 so the 3% increase is $6.00.

A couple of items have gone down a bit from a year ago - eggs and gas. One was because of returning the chicken population to normal after the bird flu decimated it. The other was due to the refineries ramping back up after almost closing down because of no demand during the shutdowns. Can't give the gov't any credit for either one.

Inflation is a golden goose for the gov't in the form of taxes. State sales tax revenues increase with every extra dollar you spend. Increased wages mean more payroll taxes as well for both the feds and local governments. So inflation can be a win - win for the gov't and a lose - lose for us peons.

Thanks for your morning rant. Joining in was somewhat cathartic and I feel a bit better now!😊 Bob

Inflation has slowed but prices have still increased from when inflation was 9% and they have not decreased.

I feel the pain. Try running a business a jib of oil that I used to pay $55 for now costs $95. We as a small local business have not increased our prices for our product.

That means I get hit twice I am making less plus paying higher prices for all the things I buy.

Most of the price inflation is in two areas wages and fuel. Most of the price increase I listed comes from increased freight charges.

Here is a simple way to look at Biden’s explanation of how inflation is coming down. In 2020 an Apple cost you a dollar. In 2022 that Apple cost you six dollars. In 2023 that Apple now only costs eight dollars. The Biden administration must think we are all idiots. They believe in tell a lie long enough and people will believe it.

When they tell me that inflation has 'dropped' to only 3% I'm not buyin' it. They're the ones that control and manipulate (and massage!) the numbers to make 'em say what they want. I know what my eyes tell me when I go to the store.

Don't pee on my back and tell me it's rainin'.

If one is dumb enough to believe rising inflation is better, well then there is your answer.

Real inflation is up around 20% , Bidens numbers are not putting everything in , He uses the new math just like Obama

Yes prices are rising, but don't forget that the package amounts are smaller. So you can double what ever inflation rate their claiming.

Bidenomics = Smaller slices and higher prices. Tom

  • chiefrchiefr Member Posts: 14,083 ✭✭✭✭

    Yep

I for one am not fooled by the blatant lies emanating from the federal bureaucracies, the POTUS, DEMOCRATs & especially main stream media inflation has stabilized or is regressing when in fact it is not! Those of use who work for a living and spend time shopping are not fooled by this big lie.

Fact: Bidenomics IS the cause of inflation and as long as Joe Biden resides a 1600 Pennsylvania avenue, inflation will only get worse.

Bidenomics defined: Raising corporate & income taxes, raising interest rates, curbing domestic production of oil & natural gas, open borders, allowing unelected bureaucrats in federal agencies to mandate what consumers must buy and the list goes on.

I have noticed for a very long time that the fake number crunching to make everything look rosy and merry so that the COLA gains for seniors living on fixed SS incomes are minimized extensively.

Right on. Biden wants us to think that because the rate of inflation has dropped some, that prices are going back down. Well, he is probably stupid enough to think that really is what is happening. It's not. Prices are still going up, just not as fast as they were.

  • chiefrchiefr Member Posts: 14,083 ✭✭✭✭

Correct, however Biden is not all that stupid, he knows exactly what he is doing.

Biden, his cabinet along with corrupts partisan media think we the people are the ones who are stupid and its obvious because they keep getting elected.

Gas is 5 bucks a gallon

20 oz Coke Zero 2 bucks

    McDonald's out of sight

Ribeyes at the local store 18.99 lb

Oh and a half gallon of Safeway Select

Ice cream is now a Quart and a half
