What’s the most accurate rifle you have ever owned?

Granted I’m not the lifelong purveyor of fine firearms like some of you. Until recently most of mine were good but not great as far as accuracy goes.
But, now I have 2 that are as accurate as anything else out there.
The Tikka T1x 22LR and….get ready for this bombshell….the FX Crown 22 pcp airgun. Both are so consistently on target, it doesn’t get interesting until 75 yards or more.
What about you folks? Got a tack driver in your former or present arsenal?

I've got a pre-war Savage .22 that you could shoot the private parts off of a fly off at 50 yards.

Rem 700 22/250 with H.D. barrel and a Leupold VX II 1-4X19 scope.
Mossberg 340BD 22 s--l--lr AC KRO GRUV barrel. Cheap won't win any beauty contest. Does not matter what you feed it. Use to like Eley for dessert. Will out shoot my Win 52D or Match 54 Anshultz any day of the week.--------------------Ray
In the 22 caliber a Remington bone stock 541S, just lights totally out. Centerfire a stock Sako Forester in 243 caliber.
My most accurate is a Remington 700ADL in 243. It belonged to my late uncle. Its never been out of the stock. Probably a rust bucket under the wood line. But right from the factory it puts 5 shots under a dime at 100yards. This is a 1970's vintage rifle. My other rifle is a Ruger 77 in 280rem its a tack drive. I won that a a NRA banquet long ago.

In the late 1980's I bought myself a new Rem 40XB-BR HV in 222Rem, and put a Lewy 36XAO BR scope on it. The factory test target was about 0.4" c-t-c for five shots.......and I've managed to shoot a few groups less than 0.25" over the years........plus a few pds.🙂
As for rimfire........my Anschutz 54.18MS, with a Leupold 6.5-20XAO Target and barrel tuner, would be the most accurate.
I have three. All customs on Remington actions. .220 swift on a 40 XB, a .243 on a tuned 700 action, and a 6 x 284 on a 40 XB action. Deadly accurate if someone can do their part.
Have some Winchester 52's and a Remington 40 XBR, never shot them enough to know their full potential. Side note, I have several bricks of that old federal blue and white box stuff that ought to be shot through them.
I have several that shoot pretty darn good. One is an 03 Springfield that I had rebarreled in the early 80's to 257 Roberts. My most consistently accurate factory guns are a tie between a Weatherby Super Varmint in 22/250 and one of my Winchester Coyote's in 243. 22's are represented by several, like an Anschutz metallic silhouette rifle, Sako, Kimber, and even that 10/22 I built and previously posted the target from it's first trip to the range.
Other than a couple of guns that I have sentimental reasons for keeping, most of my modest collection is capable of shooting better than I can. Bob
Savage / stevens 87A .22 rifle . I used it to shoot mistletoe out of trees and would shoot walnuts out of trees just for fun . Center fire is my Howa1500 synthetic stocked 308 . 1/2" to 3/4 groups with my handloads
A good 243 is one that I want but I’ve heard they’re barrel burners so I’ve opted for other rifles. Maybe someday….

Remington model 600 that someone rebarreled with a 358 Winchester barrel for centerfire and a ruger 77/22 in 22.
.243 is no more a barrel burner than most any other caliber.
What you do with it is what burns the barrel.
700 Remington BDL varmint special 22-250. 53 gr. HP match with 38 grains H380. 7/16 inch MOA at 200 yards. Leupold fixed 10 power scope.
.264 Win Mag on a winchester model 70. With worked up loads 3 shots touching each other at 400 yards.
Also a .225 on a winchester that blew up squirrels at 100 to 150 yards.

Tie between a Steyr ProHunter,A Tikka T3,both 308 and a Savage 110 in 243 that cost $125.00 on sale after deer season in 1988.
Bolt action Savage 110e in .243 Winchester. Bought it in the late 1980's, it had the ugliest birch stock imaginable, which I replaced with one from Boyd's. With my handloads it'll shoot sub MOA all day; it shoots better than I can hold. The rifle was just under $200.00 and I can't remember what I paid for that stock. Not much back then.
Austrian Voere in 22LR. I hated to let that one go when I had my inventory reduction sale a couple of years ago. Currently is Zastava Mauser purchased a a complete receiver in the white 20+ years ago. Sent to E. R. Shaw in PA to be chambered in 25.06, 26" fluted barrel installed, and blued. Sent to TX to have a Richard's laminated stock glass bedded stock installed w/ a beautiful oiled finish. Finally, I installed a Leupold VX-3 scope. Now if I could just afford more ammo.
My Tikka Tx-1 is very accurate by most standards, it loves ELEY tenx ammo, I have won a lot of factory matches with it. However my Turbo right bolt, left port benchrest rifle with a Shilen ratchet barrel in a Randy Owens stock, Jewell trigger, Harrell tuner and Nightforce 15X55 Competition scope can and does put many bullets into a group about the size of a 30 caliber hole at 50 yards time after time, match after match. It is reading the wind that determines where the bullet will land, not the rifle. Read the wind correctly and do well, miss the wind call and suffer greatly.
Savage .22LR bolt action. Out of the box. Deadly accurate out to 100 yds, not at all fussy about ammunition,.
Remington 700 CDL 257 Roberts is my most accurate, BDL 22-250 and 223.
Bought a Savage 110 in .243 a couple years ago. Not fired too much but seems crazy accurate. I spent more time sanding down a .30 cal M die so I could reload. Die has been unavailable, for years AFAIK. I Like my Winny 69-A, it shoot tiny groups at 50 yds.
All this talk about accurate rifles........and no pictures?????🙄

I'll start with a nice Sako single-shot L461 in 17-222.......that I put together some years ago. With a Leupold 6.5-20XAO Target scope.....and a 26" Pac-Nor 3 groove 9" twist barrel.......it will shoot 25VMax and 27gr Gold bullets at about 3900fps.
Later.....I installed a Canjar single-set trigger.

I've seen quite a few very accurate rifles after they have been tuned and tweaked.
But:
not long ago I seen a NEW Winchester 70, Stainless, Featherweight, Claw extractor, 264 Win Mag straight out of the box with it's barrel floated and glass bedded from the factory and it would put 120 and 140 grain bullets almost in the same hole at 100 yards. I was the shooter/tester of the rifle. This gun will test the shooter, not the other way around. Felt recoil seemed less than some 30;06's.
I asked the guy what he would take for the rifle. He said I've got a keeper.
If it had just been named 6.5 Creedmore Magnum it would have cost the buyer lots more at the GB auction.
Savage 16 Trophy Hunter, Nikon scope in .308. Accurate out past 250 yards which is about my limit shooting now.
I have sight in targets of 5 shots basically touching at 100 yards.. I have taken whitetail out past 275 yards with it. There are more accurate combinations out there but this is all I need at this point in my life...
I am considering a better scope...

many years ago when I was just buying guns I thought I had to have and different calibers ( short lived time by the way ) I bought a new Ruger SS heavy barrel laminated stock varmint/ bench ? rifle in 220 swift it was a nice looking gun had a lot of good comments about it on line so I just had to get one 😁 so I bought a rifle some factory ammo and the reloading components like dies, new brass, bullets , powder and so on ,
it sat around for a year or so still in the box and i got the itch to get something different as I had never even shot it so I sold the gun then the other reloading items just for the 220 swift
I am sure I lost money on it just dont remember how much I do know its one of many over the years I took a loss on 😪
At the risk of being called a wag, all of my guns shoot every bullet into one hole. Each. Sometimes those holes are at hugging distance, and sometimes waving. Once in a while they are at telegram distance, but that's usually the fault of the jerk on the trigger.
I've fired tens of thousands of five-shot groups doing load workups for articles. One article alone took 1,000 rounds. Measured every group. Over the years, I came to the conclusion that the average rifle is about a two-inch shooter. And I also realized that's probably good enough. After all, with a two-inch group, no shot will be more than one inch from the aimpoint. (Assuming a good zero.)
Of my remaining personal guns, I have a Rem 582 and a 788 in .223 that are no slouches.
I just happened across a youtube post a few days ago I don't recall his name but was offering 50.00 to any one who could shoot a 1moa
He was very good explaing why and how most accurate guns are more 2 too 2.5 inch MOA
And how the guns garunteed have small print about having to send the gun back and pay some crazy cost to have them test the gun and no mention of how may rounds would be fired to get their results
And 1st round out of a cold clen barrel is always going to be off the rest of a group
Also out of who knows how many times a small group could happen and that's the one the manufactures would go with

Glenfield/Marlin Model 60. Can shoot shotgun shells of a fence-post at 100 yards with amazing consistency.
Not bad for a $60 pawn shop gun.
Remington XR 100 in 223 that with handloads will shoot 1/2" at 100 yds and a pre 64 model 70 Winchester in 308 that a three shot group the holes will be touching at 100 yds with just standard 150 grain power points.

Mine also is a 222Rem in Cooper 21 Varmint bought right here on GunBroken years back. l'm shooting a ''parts gun'' purchased here awhile back. Won auctions for the 700 SA barreled Varmint action in 222Rem, Stripped SA bolt, trigger, and stock. lts all together now. Working up a good load for 50gr VMAX
I've also a Cooper M21 in 20VT, that I bought from a close friend. It's a Montana Varminter with a beautiful hunk of custom wood.

Almost broke my keyboard hitting the ''BUY button''....😍 A bit later l called Cooper for info on the gun. They told me it was made around 2011. A bit of additional info they passed on saying it was the last Cooper to leave the old original plant Dan Cooper started. MY Phoenix has a couple options not seen often, lt sports a 26'' fluted barrel. lf you'd like to shoot your 21 VT20 the PHOENIX stocks are still available thru Bell&Carllson. They made those first Phoenix for Cooper. l bought one last year for another 21 Cooper Varmint.l didn't want to risk messing up that beautiful wood. l SHOOT my Coopers. Twas a perfect drop in. App $300, Wait time was 30 days.
