I am trying to find what my gun likes.
It's a Tikka T3X .308 with 22.4" bbl and 1:11 twist.
Purpose: White tail.
Range: up to 250 yards MAX.
I have tried Hornady Superformance SST 150 w/3,000 FPS - it was all over the place.
Barnes VOR-TX 150 - w/2,900 fps - was pretty good.
Winchester Deer Season XP 150 - 2,820 FPS - was a little better.
I am now considering 130gr. Trying Barnes VOR-TX at over 3,200 FPS. What should I expect?

Every rifle is different the Tikka I had liked 165 and 180 bullets better than the 150's the 165 grain Fusion was its favorite.
I think they are worth trying. Barnes, being solid copper, and less dense than lead will be longer than a traditional 130 grain bullet.
I tried several Brands/Loads in .308 in my Savage 16. I finally settled on Remington 150 Gr. Corelokt. They were by far the most accurate load I tried.. Every gun is different....
@ 250 yards, anything other than a FMJ or full on varmint bullet will work fine on deer. 150 Rem corelokt is as good as it gets at that range. Nosler 150 BT makes a bigger hole at the expense of meat loss.
I tried a couple flavors of Superformance w/o satisfactory results. Decided if you need 'superformance', you need a bigger cartridge.
