I was talking to an old farmer in our area. He said to tell folks to stop praying for rain....we have enough now
In our neck of the woods, we were in serve draught conditions since late spring. In the last 24 hours we have received 2.75" of rain and almost 5" in the last two weeks. Some areas near us received as much as 9" in the last week or so.
Are you all too wet or too dry right now...

We had a very wet spring and beginning of summer. It rained today, for the first time in a week. Just a light drizzle. Back to heat and humidity tomorrow.
yes sir I need to cut hay but I need 3 or 4 days with no rain
You boys send all that rain you don't want up our way. We're dryer than a popcorn fart up here and sure could use the moisture. Fire danger is almost off the charts and there are numerous big fires around us, one is now only 11.7 miles away.
Was at West Point and Highland Falls, NY all day yesterday 8/3/23. Roads leading up to, they dump concrete, asphalt, dirt wherever they can find clear ground to dump it. Lady in credit union showed me many pictures of damage. Town hall had two feet of mud in cellar. Coming down from Rt 9W on Mountain Ave many had belongings out on sidewalk.
Building that i managed before I retired, Herbert Hall (Alumni Center) lies at base of Lusk Reservoir near football stadium. Loading dock area washed out and two thirds of building 1st Floor gutted out from water damage. Servepro was very busy. My old office did not exist.
After visiting with some of my friends and meeting the new President of AOG, USMA I left. It was just too depressing and I did not want to see any more damage. I think Corps of Engineers are doing some of clean up and reconstruction at the Point.-------------Ray
We got 3 to 4 inches yesterday. On average the rainfall this year is right on target for crops and haymaking.
How is the fire in Canada doing? Last I heard the were hoping winter snowfall might knock it out.
Can see and smell the smoke often in WNC.
As a fact we have not had a clear day in months.
74 days with no measurable precip.
Wow.....that is dry alright !!!!
Our water lakes are down to a combined average of 60.9%.
Still under stage 1 drought restrictions.
Got .05 yesterday. The drought is over!
We got .78" last night. It's been pretty dry here. This little bit yesterday greened up the yard, now I'll have to mow again.

What is this rain you speak of? been seems like forever since we've had any and our temps are above 105 everyday for since early June I think...
We have received over 6” since the first of August. That is just over 25% of the total rain we have received over the entire year !
Normal for you used to be about 40" per year. With the new normal who knows?
Our normal, for our yard at least is about 7". The official is a couple more. We average less that Tucson.
That figure is about right….The last two years have been pretty dry. Hopefully the last quarter of this year will normal and get us back on track..
Can't grow the pig weed and lambs quarter without rain.
Still looking for ANY rain here too!!
BTW.......Tuesday it reached 113 degrees here.😫
IT is amazing how quickly the weeds grew in the last two weeks... Places on the edge of the corn and bean fields were bare. Now there are huge growths of weeds taking over....
