NJ carry permits.......

OakieOakie Member Posts: 40,510 ✭✭✭✭

Have to be turned in to the your issuing PD, by October 1st, 2023. The state decided to change the course of fire, to the RPO standard, plus they added more curriculum to the test. All the people that paid the 200 dollars for the course, plus the 200 dollars for the 2 year permit, are out of luck!!!! You must pay for the course and permit again. LOL. What a joke. Glad I didn't apply for it. Cannot wait to move out of this communist state. Oakie

Next they'll declare the entire state a do not carry zone.

They just love making it so hard. At least our Sheriff's dept is pretty good about it. But I'm sure if I applied in my home town of San Diego California that would be another story.

Wouldn't you just love to find the pencil-necked-metro-sexual-skinny-jean-wearin'-soy-boy that came up with that idea and kick him right in his fifth point of contact?

How long 'till you're out of there, John?

Yep we were told many, many years ago, get your permit, no more Red Tape. You won't believe what i had to go thru to go from Restricted ( to and from gun club and hunting on NY State Land) TO Unrestricted (concealed carry) Every five years we have to renew permit or they will come a looking for your shooting iron.

I am waiting for our new Governor to drop the other foot and charge $500 for renewal fee. If you are a new comer $450 for class (16hours + 2hours live fire) mandatory. She already thumbs up her nose to the US Supreme Court.

In MO you don't even need a permit. If you get a CCW ours is recognized in more States than any other in the Country!

Yup....I'm surprised they haven't raised the fee as a new revenue stream.

NJ regs. we’re just posted on another gun forum.

    https://nj.gov/njsp/firearms/pdf/PTC_use_of_force_and_Qual.pdf

Looks like a way to stop all gun owners.

When they first started issuing the permits, they warned us that the curriculum was not complete, but everyone that took the course would be grandfathered in. That didn't happen.

As far as moving, I want to be out of NJ in roughly 2 to 4 years. We both really want to move to southern Georgia, but we are also looking hard at Alabama and Tennessee. My family is in Texas, and I want to be closer to them. We have friends in all three states, that we made over the years.

I'll bet they feel safer already.

I remember someone here suggesting mandatory safety classes, and proof of gun safe ownership in order to just purchase a gun.

Sound like time for a class action lawsuit. If you paid 200 for a 2 yr permit and are required to turn it in without compensation that might be illegal. Not sure if the training would be covered too

Joe, safety class is mandatory in NY but not yet proof of gun safe. With a 75%+ Democratic vote, Hochul will get to it soon I suppose. Sounds like a real winner. Bad guy threatening your life and shooting iron locked up in the safe.-------------------------Ray

You keep saying that Oakie but you're still there.

I have two to four years left in me. I already started to sell off some of our properties and been honestly looking for a new place. We actually bought a lot in Georgia, on a golf course, but decided to buy a house already built. I put the lot up for sale about a month ago. We were waiting for her father to pass. He died two years ago, and I have tried some Sentul hints to the wife, without upsetting her. She is slowly coming to the realization, that the time is short here. I would have moved thirty years ago, if it wasn't for her. I think it is going to hard for both of us to make this big move, But I am way past ready. I'm really going to miss my friends, but I will make new ones and will keep our shore house here. This way, we can always come back to visit. Yeah, I'm kind of scared to be honest, but it is just to expensive to retire here.

PS, I spoke to Roger again, OL Woodshed, and he said to say hi to everyone. I don't think he will be back on the Forums any time soon.

Oakie, you and I seem to have a lot in common. I sincerely wish you much success in your attempt to move on. If I never make it back to Virginia, by God, my ashes will. -------------------Ray

Oakie I know exactly how it feels to be where you are at. I moved back to my home to help out my mother who was sick.

I started my own business which has grown every year. My mother passed away but by then my business was making me a very good income.

By the fact that my business is personal services you just don’t pick it up and move it somewhere else like a lot of IT people can do or people working in companies located in various places around the country.

I am at the point now that I have stopped accepting new clients. It is the only way that I will ever be able to retire and move out if the hell hole of State I live in.

@Oakie We made our escape years ago & don't regret it. Glad to see that you're starting your move early. It can actually take years to complete. The thing we miss most is the food, oh and family. You'll make plenty of new friends. Sell all your properties to cut your long distance worries. And, they also have a shore down south, except they call it, "the beach."

  • OakieOakie Member Posts: 40,510 ✭✭✭✭

We call it a shore house, but go to the beach. LOL. I think once Donna's sister Beth, moves to Hilton Head in a year or two, she will be in the truck ready to roll. They are like twins in looks and about two years apart. He husband is the nicest , laidback person you will ever meet. We have a lot in common and hang out together all the time. Our homes will be about three hours from each other. 😊
