22 Mag Auto

Does anyone know if someone manufactures a Small 22 Mag Auto. I found full size ones but not a pocket size. Looking at any and all manufacturers. Thanks for your help in advance

The only pocket size 22 mag that I am aware of are not autos. NAA makes their little single action and both Ruger and S&W make double action snubbies. Keep in mind the 22 mag requires a longer barrel to see any real increase in power. A couple of ammo makers do sell ammo made for the shorter barrels and that helps a bit. If it was me, I would look for a 22lr pocket gun rated for the hyper velocity ammo like CCI Stingers. Even a little .380 might be both easier to find and a bit more capable. Just my 2 cents. Bob
I am sort of a .22 Mag junkie..... I am not aware of any compact .22 Mag. semi-auto firearms.
Some great full size ones out there. There are also some really decent revolvers. The S&W 351PD or Ruger LCR come to mind. I do like some of the NAA models also.
Welcome to the forums..
The only .22 Mag semi-auto pistol I ever held was (I think) an AMT. Guy brought it into the gun shop and complained that it jammed a lot. I cleaned it and test-fired it. Learned that it would feed Winchesters perfectly but balked every time with CCI. Asked and the guy said he always used CCI. Problem solved.
So it may be that they can be touchy about pressure curve and possibly bullet shape/plating. I agree that a pocket-sized one would probably be impractical both from a design standpoint and effectiveness as well.
I have a Walther WMP, but it is not a pocket pistol.
The AMTs were junk and rarely worked.
For the money there is not a better and more reliable 22 WMR than the Keltec PMR 30. The PMR 30 is so light I have forgotten I was carrying it.
I have a Rock Island XT22, 1911 style that holds 15 rounds. Right out of the box I ran three full mags through it without a failure. Second time I tried some cheaper shells & had several failures to eject. Went back to 45 grain CCI and no problems.
We've got this one running...not pocket sized, but not as long as the AMT.
I ended up with one in a trade and have put near a thousand rounds thru it and it has never failed. In a rest at 20 yards will shoot a 1" group. Has a great trigger and what I like most is it feels like a 1911. A real sleeper and will definitely keep.
I have 2 AMT Automag II , 6" and 4" both work when they are clean
I have both the PMR30 and Walther WMP. Both a fun to shoot and quite accurate. The PMR is an early model and had feeding issues. It was sent back to the factory and has been flawless ever since. The PMR's are reported to have more issues with some loads. I have always stuck to the recommended list of ammo that came with the gun.
The WMP has been 100% with all the different loads I have fired through it so far. I also like that it is cut for an optic and mine has a Holosun 507K mounted on it.
Surfacing from the murky depths of my increasingly fallible memory are bits of an article I read some decades back. The discussion was about .22 Mag semi-autos and one point raised was that it seems to be quite the challenge to get such a long and skinny round to feed from a magazine into the chamber without bending.
If that memory is correct, it might partly explain the common feeding issues such guns tend to have. Also, ammo preferences.
Me too. Work now but gave me trouble. They had a 3 inch or so, most rare
I have a 3 inch that I bought in 1989 I read they only made them for about 6 months, still have the box with paperwork and extra mag. The manual says only use Winchester ammo and it will work fine. I tried other types of 22 mag, and they won't feed a lot of the time they tend to bend guess the Winchester must have thicker case, never had a problem with them. Probably haven't shot 50 rounds through it, Friend of mine wanted to shoot it a couple of months ago probably the first time it's been shot in 30 years, and he cleaned it!!
For what it might be worth, S&W has an M&P 5.7 x 28 out that holds 22 in the mag, is nearly the same ballistically as .22 mag, and fires a round with amazing penetration. If I did not have the Walther WMP and a Ruger 5.7, I would buy that one. Wait... Sell two buy one...
I've a AMT 6" 22 Mag.......and it's a nice companion for my RI 22TCM Target.
They are both........LOUD!!! 🤯
I also have a RI 22 TCM 4" barrel , loud and serious fireball
Makes a good flash in case of miss, thunder not included
If you must have pocket size, there's always the Hi Standard two-shot .22 mag derringer. Muzzle flash is about a foot long.
