Spam for brunch !!!

Started the morning with a good workout and was starving around 1030. I remembered I had a can of spam in the supplies I had laid up during COVID. Grabbed it and cooked it up with some eggs. I know some folks do not care for it, but it reminds me of real camping out in the middle of nowhere when I was a kid. No ice chests, no electricity etc. You carried in what you were going to eat with you. Great memories !
Except for the easy clean pan, it looks and tastes the same !!! I think it tastes a little better cooked over a fire !
Have any good camping memories and the food you enjoyed ???

MMmmmm, good. I prefer the low salt version, and fried a little crispy.
Wife doesn't like it, so I buy the low salt Singles. Perfect size for a sammich. I had a fishing buddy who never packed anything but fried Spam and pickled jalapeno sammies, heavy on the mayo. They're mighty fine.
Love it! they make a lot of different varieties now and a stop at the Spam Museum in Minn. is well worth it.
Gerhard my hunting partner of 55 years passed away a couple years ago. Miss him terribly. We always went for the Spam if not too hungry and the Dinty Moore stew if real hungry. Always had a bagel or two in the pack. "Gerry" always brought some good German beer along. He drank it the way it was (Germans are like that) and I dropped mine in a cool mountain stream. Climbed a lot of mountains in Adirondack Forest Preserve chasing Whitetails and that Spam and Dinty Moore sure tasted good. Yum, Yum. We had a friend in the early days named Stanley. He was a Polish/Irish mix and wore a Tamarack. He hated the Queen of England. Always brought along a bottle of Bison vodka. It had a worm inside. I tried it one time. Almost could not get up the next morning. Never again! When we left our campfire we crushed cans with our heel and dug hole with stick and buried under ashes in ground. --------------------------------------Ray
Yup, good stuff
Best when eaten off the tip of a Buck 110 hunting knife.
I like it fried until blackened. Delicious!

🤢
we fry the bacon flavored spam thin and crispy, then make BLT's , if you slice it from the square side it just fits a hamburger bun......... if sliced thin and crispy the taste is almost the same as bacon, just the texture is different
If I remember spam is one the most eaten foods in the world.
Spam was go-to food for elk camp every year. Never ate it at home though.
My memories of Spam start way back when I took a returning home bus trip with my grandpa when I was just 5 years old. We took a cab ride from the bus station to his house where my grandma made me a Spam sandwich, glass of cold milk, and a stack of homemade cookies. Made for a great lunch!
Kind of funny how a 62 year old memory stays with me. Pretty sure it is because of the fascination I had seeing my grandma opening that can by pulling off the key that was attached to it and turning off the lid as the key rolled its way around it! A mechanical marvel for this 5 year old!
Fried with peaches please
I would rather eat road kill!!🤮
Yep, still remember cutting my finger on the can. Don
Hey Oakie, you know why those flat animals are called highway pizza?
'Cause they're pepperoadkill!
With a side of Spam.

when it does hit the fan, I will be eating venison and fish. Otherwise, I'm starving to death, before I eat that stuff in a can. Even grub worms sound more delicious.
I always thought the word SPAM was the pronoun for C rations. But it does taste good fried.
Gotta ask: have you ever had Spam? When it's fried up, its good eats.

Hard to beat a fried spam sammich with a good ripe slice of mater and a bit of mayo!
