Whirlpool Washer of Yesteryear
Did not want to Hi-jack Joe's dishwasher thread, so. About ten years ago had a Top of the line Whirlpool washer that came from Sears that was 26+years old and still going strong. I had replaced the igniter on matching dryer and then the motor went. Too expensive so I went for a new Whirlpool dryer at Best Buy. Works great and they really did not change much in all these years.
Well my sweetheart really did not like my old washer at this point because it did not match her new dryer. We all know how that goes. So back to Best Buy for a new matching Whirlpool washer which I really did not need. I was suspicious of this new marvel with the tiny dasher inside and all the latest technology included.
Meanwhile I put the old washer on craigslist for $100 and a fella came to look at it the very next day. He was a contractor and drove a very long ways. Said he bought a new washer and it just would not get his dirty old work clothes clean. His wife was pulling her hair out. He really grilled me about the history of the washer. I explained that I had put a new basket drive assembly, seals and replaced one small gear in the gearcase a year ago. The brake assembly on this thing looked like the pressure plate on a GMC and the gearcase like a tank. He paid me the $100 and i helped him load it on his truck. He looked at the bottom of the washer very closely as it laid in his truck and smiled like he had just won the NY Lottery. He said "you know it is exactly like my old washer and I would have paid you twice that amount".
About a month later this fella called me to thank me for the great 26+ year old washer and said he did not care if it used a little more water. His wife was tickled to death because his dirty old work clothes were finally getting cleaned by this beast.
Ken, can understand your frustration with Fridge. New washer with tiny dasher tangles up all my clothes after drain and spin and has a couple other issues.
You should know that things will get better and Buddy will take good care of you. Soon there will be frost on the pumpkin in your holler and the leaves will be turning. When you are shooting the leaves stay away from the red ones, they tend to be "Maggie's Drawers" 😉 ---------------------------------------Ray

Most of the problems with modern appliances can be traced directly to that little sticker that says "Energy Star."
When I had very dirty work clothes,I would put them in the old washer in the morning with some soap, let the slosh a few minutes, turn the machine off and let the clothes soak all day while I was at work. The dirty clothes would nearly alway come clean.I can't do that with our new washer.
