The hummers have went crazy here, as nothing is blooming now, and they haven't started leaving for the winter yet.

They are eating so much it is crazy. I am buying sugar 25 lbs at a time!

Here is a video:

Good God! Looks like a swarm of mosquitos.

I only have two of the little birds.

    Where are you, Mercury?

I watched it twice, to see the beautiful landscape.

I am jealous!! I LOVE Hummers but I only occasionally see two at one time. I have a very territorial Hummer that runs off all intruders to my feeders.

Couldn't ID the species from the clip, but they're almost certainly Ruby-throats. They're the only species gregarious enough to allow that kind of close contact. Our Western species like Black-chinned, Rufous, or Broad-tailed are MUCH more territorial and possessive. If you see two black-chins at a feeder at once, they are either mates or siblings. And even then, they get testy.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

    Allen,

I'm abouty 4 miles north of the border, south of Tucson, AZ.

We get Rufous, Anna's, black-chinned and broad-tailed hummers here. And probably couple other species I haven't noticed.

The Rufous are very few, maybe 5% of the total birds.

Merc, that surprises me. But I suppose nothing that hummers do ought to surprise me by now.

Nope, we have a mix of black chinned, broad tailed and a few rufous this time of year. We have as many as 9 birds at a time on two feeders with another 10 standing in line.

A few years ago, while working in Prescott, Arizona, I saw and heard, and Anna’s hummingbird singing! I saw and heard, an Anna‘s hummingbird singing!

Apparently, the Anna’s hummer is the only one that does sing.

We have three big feeders up, SW Arkansas. The ruby throated birds are sucking down almost a gallon and a half every week. There were over 20 of them this morning. Our neighbor has about the same at his place (300 yards away). More sugar is always on the list!

Nice video! I've had good luck in the past here in the NC Piedmont... Just haven't had any feeders up this year. 😔😕
