Hypothetically speaking

Would you use the opportunity of trenching for power lines to your new out building to bury a gun in that trench? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes

No…unless it’s something illegal for me to own (e.g., Claymore). Then, maybe.

I'd be concerned about what the electrical field from the power line would do to the metal in the gun. Possible nothing, but I would have to research that real good 1st.
Also, usually those trenches are only about 3 or 4 inches wide.
Never been quite sure about burying things for future emergencies. If they're coming for my guns, or family, I'm going to be defending my castle, not sitting out in the yard with a shovel, frantically digging to find something to protect myself with. Same thing goes with guns all around the house, if I lived in a place where I was that worried, I'd move. I'm going down with my ship fighting, not digging.
When you really really need that gun, how long will it take you to find it and dig it out?
Joe
Less time, I think, since I would have a long, permanent landmark. Hypothetically.

I'd also bury a shovel in there so I'd always have a shovel available to dig out the gun. That's called plannin' ahead.

I might have a body you can bury with it, Just in case you are up to a murder wrap. 😁🚓🔒️
I store all my in the bottom of a 10,000 hectare lake.
Nope! By most accounts if you have waited this long to bury a firearm, you have waited too long, hypothetically of course. If you need them, use them or you will loose them.
When all the guns have been banned,
When all the words have been censored,
When all the history has been erased,
When all the freedom has been taken,
Only then will you discover why our right to bear arms was so high on the list. --------------------------------Ray
Yep, be it my last stand or my waterloo, but it is what it is.
No.
Hypothetically speaking that is.
Have never entertained this thought nor would I. Ken is right. Smaller footprint. Someplace I read you need to create a vacuum and introduce nitrogen into PVC tube. Two biggest enemies of guns, rust and politicians.---------------------Ray
You just reminded me. I am moving and need to dig a couple up and move them.
If there comes a time that we need to be burying our firearms then we may have missed the appropriate time to be using them.
I would be doing it ahead of any need to. ;)

I have heard of people sealing them in walls in their houses.
burying them in a fence post hole with e fence post above them
hiding them in some remote part of their or public land
JMHO
on the surface seems logical but like stated if you need the gun its past time to really use it ask our forefathers
if your the only one who knows where they are what happens ( if you care as you would be dead ) they would be lost to time if your not around to recover them any one you tell just adds to the risk of your hiding spot being given up
if we come to the point of having to dig up guns to defend or protect or ? how long before your ratted out or even the 1st time you use it would be like a duck on June bug with the agency's taking you out after the first round fired
even you live being in prison ( if you lived ) they would do you no good.
if just you knew ? you would you give up the stash with your family being held as a barging chip hold out then 1st one killed to prove they were serious then what
to me all just a fantasy to think last minute any one or small group " like in the movies "could save the day, yes maybe win a round or two before your done
not exactly but close enought
also come to mind the great grand kid and his grand father going for a walk in the woods
grandpa stops by a stream and points to a large rock and says right there we burred a stash of guns and ammo for when their needed to fight the government . I have been hounded most of my life to give up the info but never told any one , I never even told you dad as I did not trust him, but your different and I want you to know as I am getting older and I want you to know just in case .
the grand kid turns away and calls , I know where the guns are now come on in 😥
I can’t figger out why anyone would want to bury a gun in the first place.
What am I missing?
The reason. Don
Not there, absolute, not hypothetical. Burying has never been high on my list, bit if I needed to re-arm later, I would have something buried in the desert near a land mark I could always find.
Send it down to me, hypothetically, and I will hide it in the desert for you Mr. P.
I would need alot of holes, so I just keep them in the gun safe.
I think its a good idea. Where there is electrical current, there is magnetism. Magnetism has an effect on scanners and GPR. Most have sense enough not to dig around buryied powerlines.
Yeah, this is where I'm at.

If I was to plant a bed of roses, I would bury a gun under them.
If you bury anything you don't want found, always plant an endangered bush on top. It'd be illegal to disturb.
Always best to bury them in your neighbor's yard.
I'm sure everyone on here has enough guns in their safe that they could bury a few of them and never even notice them missing from their collection.
It’s hard to bury them when they are already at the bottom of the lake. 😎
