one of 1st cousins passed away
just received word a 1st cousin of mine Jesse was a couple months younger than me. he stayed with us one summer when we both about 12 yrs old around 1969 or so ) and stayed in touch off and on up to about the time my dad passed on in 2000 , he was one of my dads sisters sons but my younger brother and some nephews were pals with him in Tennessee
he was a lot like my brother in his way of life good at the core but just could not stay out of trouble but in his defense, he had a tough life . and started very young getting into mischief and trouble. he was raised by my grandfather for the most part of his life and they had nothing to be honest
ok skip if you like no harm or problem with me
two of countless stories about him both funny and sad
he told me ( and other family members told the same story ) many times he would come home late lay down and fall asleep well pass out ( drunk this was when he was very young ) and grandpa would tie him to the bed and beat the snot ( not the word he used ) out of him with a leather belt to teach him a lesson
the summer he stayed with us we had a good time nothing bad just regular kids enjoying the summer on the trip back to Tennessee (Powell valley area ) dad would stop at the rest areas ( nothing like today and rest area were basic out door toilets maybe a water fountain and a parking spot .
when we got him home he had stolen all the toilet paper he could get at the rest areas on the way back home he told me corn cobs and newspaper are a poor substitute so what ever he could get was a good thing , I guess I cant blame him for that one
ok stick with me one more story
later on in life a deputy sheriff came back in the hollow to arrest another cousin so he just went into the woods and hid as standard practice until the LEO left happed a lot
well Jesse and a few more were drinking along with my brother in another room ( a book could be written on the adventures)
some one in the room said it would be fun to steal the cop car . next thing they knew Jesse took it as a challenge he took the deputy's car while the deputy was looking for the other cousin
the cousin they were looking for seen the car leave came back out of the woods to find the deputy. in the house uh oh busted .
but Jesse was running the holler calling on the radio calling the police names and saying things like you cant catch me among other choice words 😲
they had several deputy sheriff cars running the roads looking and Sady😮 Jesse crashed into a ditch , and they got him 😯
they tried to charge him with having the shotgun from in the cruiser but it did not make into the charges.
so several months in the local jail again was the out come he was a frequent flyer at the place
they even ley him have knifes glue and tols he would build houses and barns and similar buildings out of wooden match sticks and honest he was good at it and sold a lot of them but he had a lot of time to get good at it
any way
RIP Jesse or better know as jack eye to th efamily and all his friends it was some nick name given to him as a young kid have no idea what or why but it was his
my son told me iot was passed on to him Jesse was in the hospital on Monday not sure why, he was there
but came home and later not sure what day on they found him dead in his chair guessing he had heart attack while he as sleeping at least a peaceful way to go

Sorry for your loss.
Rest high on that mountain
RIP Jesse, sounds like you had tough sleddin' here on earth.
Very sorry for your loss....prayers for God's peace for you and yours..
Sorry for you and your family's loss D\R.
Kind of like you, I had a lot of 1st cousins that were very close growing up but not seen or even heard from for more than 40 years. Had one that passed a couple years ago. He was in and out of jail and prison much of his life.
Have another female that is locked up for life for murdering her ex-cop husband. Life with no chance of parole.
Looks like I let some skeleton's out of the closet here.😲

Thanks for sharing am sure many families have the random over the line members
I have a few nephews who also enjoyed the state run guest houses fora variety of reasons
my departed brother once spent just under a year in the big house for not paying child support
Which was crazy he owed like 8k and I bet the state was out 10 to 20k at least for his trials and lockup time
Sorry for your tremendous loss. Sounds like he is the cousin or brother we all had and loved. God bless and may your cousin find his place at our fathers table. Oakie
